Topic: Mario + Rabbid Kingdom (DK DLC)

Hi All,

This game was a complete shock for me. Personally, I think the “Rabbids” as characters are just terrible, but I do like Ubisoft. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is one of my all time favorite games, and I’ve played almost all the Far Cry’s and some others.

Anyway, I was super skeptical mixing this with Mario but the game is a gem. Love it. I’m about 75% through the game after checking non-spoiler game length searching.

Who has the Donkey Kong DLC? Is it good? I assume it’s EXACTLY like the main game just different themed. No more no less.

Thanks!

Thank you!

@CTmatic
The DK DLC is like the main game but with a different theme AND a couple of new mechanics for DK that, in my opinion, make the DLC worth it if you liked the main game

Timely post, as both the Season Pass and the standalone DK DLC are both on sale right now for those who haven't taken the plunge yet but were considering it.

Do you know how long they’ll be on sale for? Didn’t know that. I’m tight on money right now so that’s really good to know.

The “pixel” guns seem kinda dumb or just uninteresting to me. Am I missing out on anything else, other than those? Not counting the DK DLC...@klingki

@CTmatic The sale runs until September 10. It looks like the Season Pass is $13.39 and the DK DLC is $10.04 (weird prices).

I'd say you're not missing too much by just choosing the DK DLC over the Season Pass. There's the pixel weapons, but you'll get better ones than those not too far into the game. They only really helped me in the very early going.

There's also an Ultra Challenge Pack which adds some difficult challenge stages and some co-op stages, but I don't even remember if you get anything special for completing them. I guess they're a nice little bonus, but they didn't feel super memorable to me.

The DK stuff is the meat and potatoes of the DLC though. You get a good amount of content that mixes up the gameplay a bit. But then again, the Season Pass is just like $3 more, so I guess it depends if you feel like the pixel weapons and the challenge stages might be worth that.

My main complaint is that you don't have access to most of the cast in the dlc. It becomes a bit repetitive because of that.

I got Kingdom Battle Gold edition via a sale, I think I got half-way through the main game. Yeah, visually the game looks fine. Music? Yeah, I love it...

So why did I give up playing this game half-way through and archiving it to free up some space? The CONSTANT glitches and crashes, these weren't small glitches either. Graphical bugs where objects and characters were flickering around and hurting my eyes, or cases where my characters are randomly glitched out of bounds. Basically something like that happens and I have to restart the level, and then the crashes, self-explanatory.

The game was fun, with great visuals and awesome music, but holy crap Ubisoft if you're not going to fix this crap then it's not even worth it for me.

I don't know if is my console or the update, but I haven't had too many issues with the DK DLC. Where I do have issues is with the music sometimes not playing. Mainly outside of battle.

I had the music glitch out once and one crash during my playthrough. And some graphical glitches, but overall it was fine.

None of that has ever happened to me once....odd.@Joeynator3000

Yeah, I don't know...maybe at some point I'll redownload it (it's archived, so my save is fine) and try again. But almost every time I started playing I run into an issue that requires me to restart the level completely or even the game itself. It just ruins my mood to keep playing. >.<

@Therad well, the DLC stages would make no sense if you remove DK from your team... Also, I think the team that you are allowed to use in the DK DLC is quite balanced. I don't really had any issues with that other than I hate rabbid-peach... :/

Rabbid peach is the best part of the entire game!

Even if you let dk be a fixed member of the team, it would be more fun if you could change the others though.

I would say that it's definitely worth playing the DK DLC if you enjoyed the main game. It changes the mechanics more than enough to make things interesting. I do vaguely recollect thinking that it was slightly easier than some of the latter missions in the main campaign, but that isn't necessarily a negative.

Started playing this again last night and man, its almost nonsensical how good this game is! I've never been strategy game fan and of course the Rabbids are full on obnoxious most of the time but it just works. The DK DLC is really good imo, definitely worth the sale price!

Thanks! I didn’t know about that Steampunk Pack included in the Season Pass as well. I’m going to buy the season pass today.@klingki

Nice, I have a few more days. Definitely gonna get the DK stuff and blast through it this weekend.

@CTmatic Ah right, I totally forgot about the Steampunk stuff, haha. Like the pixel weapons, they look cool, but aren't totally useful once you get better stuff. Still, I'm a completionist, so I like having everything in my game. For three extra bucks, I'd go Season Pass as well. I kind of regret I didn't wait for this sale, but it would have been a long wait, haha.
