Topic: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: cheater?

I just got a Switch on July 25th, and I'm loving it so far. I've got Zelda BOTW (was my first game), Hyrule Warriors, and now Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. All three of which are great fun. Anyway, last night me and my brother decided to go online or a few races in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. And yea, we fully expected to get wrecked by people who've been playing for a year or more. Which we mostly did. But that's not why I'm posting.

In our last race before supper one guy (I'm not going to name names) began spamming red shells from the starting line. And by spamming I mean there was no point in the entire race where this guy wasn't tossing an unending stream of red shells. Wish I'd thought to grab a screenshot of it as proof. What research I could do indicated that this is likely a game hack. Which makes me wonder something. Why in the world would someone feel the need to cheat like this in Mario Kart?

Hacking is beginning to run rampant in Nintendo's online games. Reports are that one developer leaked the SDK. So unless Nintendo scraps the current SDK they're using (which I doubt since there are millions of units sitting on store shelves), the hacking is only going to get worse. There's little doubt that, with the SDK exposed, hackers will be able to avoid Nintendo's online ban mechanisms and hack detection system.

Cheating in Nintendo's online games is about to get worse.

Why does anybody cheat in an online game? Because they can.

The funny thing is the cheater didn't win the race. He (or she) was so busy spamming red shells that they weren't doing a good job of controlling their kart. I saw them drive off the track multiple times, botch glider jumps, and generally do a lot worse then I did. And I didn't figure out things like how to power slide and mini-boosts until this morning. That race I placed 4th (been usually placing around 6th through 9th when online). I think the cheater placed 5th that race.

I really don't get why people do that. I mean, beyond the fact that it's lame to feel you need to cheat, such hacks risk damaging your save file, your game, and everyone else's save files. Not to mention get you perma banned. So why the heck would you do it?

@Magician I hope that is not true. If so, that's very sad and a major deal breaker for their online payment scheme.

For those that play a lot, it's probably not a biggie if 1 from 10 races is messed. But imagine the casual gamer who just wants to play for once after months of no time. Then he gets comfortable, logs in, fires the game up and bam it's ruined by immature hackers. The whole experience is crushed and he probably might never want to try again because it's a waste of time.

This is not what Nintendo needs right now.

Yeah, my brother was so angry about it that he doesn't even want to consider doing another online race now. And if it's a common problem, I'd likely decide the same. As it is I'm not a fan of multiplayer vs games due to the usual communities being foul mouthed and abusive. And I stopped playing Borderlands online (other then strictly with friends/family) due to people modding their game then going online and wrecking my save file.

I think...
Because they felt like a REAL ADULT gamer if they Swear, Modding, Cheating in Online games.
Like that was OVEREXPRESSED their liberty in public, they condemn whoever critique their freedom to express their liberty.
The expression of freedom that went Too Far and Uncontrolable...

Did anyone see double characters when you play mariokart online? it is weird. sometimes 3 the same... i don't care to lose, but you almost don't get a chance.. i am not a bad player, but when i see 2 or 3 the same.. i drive in position 9-12.

Nintendo needs to
1. delete hacker accounts
2. and lock them out from using any online functionality on Switch
3. and remotely delete all their save files
4. and games as well.

I pay twenty bucks a year, and I punch every cheaters teeth in If I can grab one in person.
