Surprisingly Official PlayStation I believe still exists, and Edge magazine still exist. And Official Xbox only just ended earlier this year... I think Games Master may have ended not too long ago.

@TheFrenchiestFry : Nintendo HAS DONE remakes, but only really in the Zelda franchise. And maybe Metroid-ish If you count the gba games which were pretty much remakes.

Mario seems a push to me. I would love to be wrong, I would love to play Mazza 64 in hd.. but I can’t see it happening

And if it does happen, I can’t see it being a fully fledged thing, more something half assed (like m64 on gba)

This is one occasion where I’d LOVE to be proved wrong though

@TheFrenchiestFry On Clammy's point, what about Metroid: Samus Returns, that was only a few years ago. Same with Majora's Mask 3D. Also, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX, Link's Awakening, Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn, Luigi's Mansion (3DS), Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, and Pokemon Let's Go? All of those are remakes from within the last 5 years, on top of XC:DE and Shadows of Valentia.

In terms of mainline Mario entries I'm pretty sure the last time they actually remade them from the ground up in a collection was Super Mario All Stars, since the Advance games were just GBA conversions of those remakes with added sound effects. SM64 DS was completely standalone and the only time they ever revisited a 3D entry outside that weird Chinese-exclusive NVIDIA partnership

In terms of mainline entries in Nintendo IP, they've only ever consistently done Metroid and Zelda. They likely did Majora's Mask since remaking Ocarina of Time was already half the work done considering it reuses quite a number of assets from that game, and Samus Returns obviously needed a facelift the same way Zero Mission did for Metroid 1. It was also more than likely somewhat of an indirect response to AM2R, that fan remake of Metroid II that Nintendo issued a DMCA takedown notice for shortly after it was published about a year before Samus Returns released. Mario has never been in that camp and Nintendo never revisits those titles, especially the 3D entries.

I’m not really worried about the announcement or release dates. It’ll come when it comes. But the longer this drags out, the less I hear about Galaxy 2 as part of the collection, and that is concerning.

Where does all this Mario was going to be part of Olympics keep coming from? I can keep hearing about it as if its a fact.

Reputable Nintendo podcast Nate the Hate, which most recently correctly outed both August’s Indie World Showcase and Nintendo Direct Mini before they were announced, claims that the announcement of both the 3D Mario remasters/remakes and Super Mario 3D World Deluxe will happen in September to coincide with Mario’s 35th anniversary. The collection would be out in October or November and the Wii U port in January.

This. The fact that Nintendo hasn't remade some games until now doesn't mean that they (or another studio) won't now. It's more the opposite.

@Slowdive there’s a lot more to Japan than just it being the homeland of Mario, the caricature of a pidgin Italian. Also Nintendo is a Kyoto company, not a Tokyo one.

To me this is another rumour that has become a fact due to people saying it over and over again.

@Slowdive I agree about what you mean about the Olympics. The Mario games, they're supposed to launch this year except the Wii U port so not too long before we find out 😁. I wonder what naysayers will post then or if they'll hide in their caves.
