If the Nintendo Switch system starts overheating, the system will automatically put itself into sleep mode to protect itself, this is something my launch Switch unit has experienced due to its cooling fan failing.
Third party cooling attachments for Nintendo Switch docks exist, but I have no idea if they are effective or not. There is no way for a user to check the temperature of an unmodified system (third party mods can report on internal temperature).
@Mogruk Oof 40°C sounds insane...
During the day here it's usually between 32°-35° which is fairly normal. But at night it only goes down to around 30° (Unless if it is raining (or has rained) then the most it goes down to is 26°). But yeah it's been awhile since we've experienced anything below 24°C 😔.
I’d say consider emigrating but the way things are going a few decades from now there might not be anywhere on earth colder than 40 degrees day or night.
Do keep in mind that temperatures inside of buildings tend to be more temperate than what weather apps say, so even if it’s 38-40c outside, it probably is still be safe to play inside your house.
My hometown gets that hot, sometimes even getting closer to 45c on very rare bad occasions. It’s somehow gotten cooler over the last decade though. Or at least I feels like that.
As others have said, indoor temps are going to be vastly different. Where I live we always get a few 40C days every summer. Recently we've had summers where it gets to 45C, 2021 we hit 46C on Christmas Day
If the aircon is dead? It could probably get to 35C inside but probably not much more. Never really tested it because you'll have the aircon going, blinds all shut and fans going well before then. Usually we'll set the AC to target 24C and be fairly comfortable at with an inside temp hovering around 26-30C
Personally, on days when it hits 46C.... I'd rather have a drink in my hands than a heat generating console....
