Topic: I deleted my Internet?

My WiFi is pretty slow and last night we were having issues with it so we decided to disconnect all the devices not in use and I meant to disconnect the switch from the internet and I clicked clear settings and now I can't get my switch to connect to the internet at all. It won't even pop up as an option to connect to. Is there anyway I can fix it? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Maybe the router has a WPS button you can push, and then try searching for connections on the switch again right after.

WPS is for connecting devices.

@Logannn Don't know about yours, but mine has a long list of previously registered networks. So of i want to delete and re-add one, I then have to remember to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the other network names that my Switch is still unfamiliar with - under the 'Networks Found' sub-heading. If your deleted network is going to show up it will be down there.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

@gcunit I've checked. I even tried manually putting in the internet settings

@Solarstriker I have t mobile and from what I understand the router doesn't have a wps button

@Logannn Assuming you've power-cycled both the Switch and the Router? Are any wi-fi access points appearing - I can sometimes see my neighbours Wi-Fi for example? Try setting your phone as a hotspot and see if it can see that? I'm assuming other device have reconnected to Wi-Fi OK and that you haven't accidentally turned of Wi-Fi visibility at your router?

@dmcc0 yes I can see my neighbors WiFi and I can connect to mine. The issue is I clicked clear settings and now the WiFi isn't popping up for the switch at all and I'm confused as what to do

@dmcc0 I'll definitely be trying it and I'll let you know. Thank you

SwitchForce

What version of Switch do you have and what firmware version? Also did you restart when you cleared the settings as well? Otherwise sounds like your having Switch wifi card issues could be another case here as well.

@SwiychForce I have a Nintendo switch OLED and I did restart my system multiple times after and still nothing

Logannn

Logannn

@dmcc0 that unfortunately didn't work but thank you

@SwitchForce I clicked clear settings and now the Internet is gone from my switch completely. Is there anyway I can fix it?

@Logannn Since no one has mentioned it yet, are you sure Airplane mode isn't your issue? Disregard if this isn't your problem.

Airplane Mode directions:

Switch Handheld Mode: long-press Home button until the prompt on the right opens, and you'll see the toggle for Airplane mode.

Docked TV-mode via Switch settings (gear icon)

I will also take a moment to mention that Nintendo Support is a surprisingly good resource. Use the search bar there to find troubleshooting or directions for virtually everything. If you can't solve something with Nintendo Support's site, then that can be a good indicator that hardware has failed and repair is required. On a positive note, I don't think your issue is hardware-failure. If you're still stuck, try contacting Nintendo support. You can call them or use a chat messenger. Although, it's Easter, so they may be closed today. https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/contact

@WoomyNNYes I had considered Airplane mode, but ruled it out as it appears they can see other Wi-Fi access points. Agreed, that it doesn't seem like it's a hardware fault and more likely the settings on either the router or Switch.

@Logannn One thing I hadn't considered, but might be worth a go - you've pretty much tried all the obvious stuff at this point. It's likely not the issue but I wonder, if when deleting the settings it's got a weird quirk where it's essentially blocking that SSID. As you seem to be able to pick up other access points, something simple like changing the name of your Wi-Fi access point at the router might be enough to see it as a different connection.

I can create a "guest" wifi network on my account, maybe something like that would help?

@dmcc0 I tried changing the name and it still didn't show up

@Logannn I'm sure you probably haven't changed anything at the router side, but worth checking what the security settings are. Switch only supports WEP, WPA-PSK(AES), and WPA2-PSK(AES) so make sure your router settings match one of those otherwise the Switch won't see it.

Does your router let you set up multiple SSIDs? You could try setting up a new one (rather than just changing the name) and see if you can see that?

Running out of things to try at this point. You've said you've power cycled, but have you done a Factory Reset? There's an option to reset without losing save data - see Nintendo support site: https://tinyurl.com/3yh7zm25

You'll have to re-download any digital games/updates on the system after doing it, but at least the save data will be intact. That might be enough to clear whatever is blocking you seeing the router from the Switch side.
