I can't be the only one wondering just how different the 3rd game will be from the 2nd?? I mean adding new weapons and maps can't justify a BRAND NEW GAME. The only reason the 2nd one was able to do this is because it was a brand new system. Would love to hear ideas for the 3rd game from the community!!
I want voice chat and a more fleshed out horde mode - 4 levels in Salmon Run is a joke, give us 50 or 100 levels to grind through for some decent loot.
A better single player campaign would suit me fine.
I don't care for competitive multiplayer games these days.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,247 games (as of April 15th, 2024)

I actually would like a split-screen option for local co-op. My brothers and I all love splatoon but we generally have to take turns if we all want to play lol.
Rotations of more than 2 stages. A ranked mode that mixes all the objectives together instead of doing a single one for two hour blocks. Judd and Lil’ Judd’s third clone- Big Judd
@NikHogan First game i bought for switch was splatoon 2, i did'nt play splatoon on Wii U, one thing i think, is that it was a bit harder to play than i thought first. You have to really fight to win in any of the online play. But i still like it. I do think nintendo should put more "gameplay" in splatoon 3. ( I HOPE😁 )
They've gotta do something more with the story campaign. I played a couple of worlds in Splatoon 2 but it just felt identical to the original, which I felt like I'd had enough of already.
Splatoon fans are probably going to be split between two games 2 and 3, which is why I don't think its a good idea for 3 to be on the same console as 2, bc if splatoon 3 turns out to be worse then 2 (Which is probably not going to happen and highly unlikely) every one is going to back to 2, then you have those die hard splatoon 2 fans that will never like splatoon 3, and the splatoon 3 fans with then fight with 2 fan, Ugh there is just so many issue that can come out of having sequels on the same console. (and before you say there are lots of sequels on the switch console, I know but Splatoon 2 is like four years old its not that far apart)
This is also coming from some won who dose not own Splatoon 2 so I'm going to wait for 3.
@Snatcher you usually have multiple iterations of a shooter on the same system.
For example Gears 1-3 and Halo 3, ODST & Reach were all on the xbox 360.
Having a shooter sit stagnant on a console for 4 years with no new maps, modes or expansions feels weird to me.
New weapons new maps new story new customisation options and who knows what else they might add I'm hoping they add a 3rd playable race though and a new type of salmon run which would be great
@Mr-Fuggles777 Used to is the key term. Nowadays outside of CoD still doing annual new releases it's common for games to last longer for example by the time Halo Infinite comes out it will have been 6 years since the last FPS Halo, the last Rainbow Six game was Siege in 2015, etc.
So I didn't really expect Splatoon 3 until the Switch's successor but that may still be true given we don't know the purpose of the rumoured Switch Pro. It could be that Switch lasts 2017-2023 and the new Switch revision lasts 2022 - 2028 for example.
@jump I keep looking at Borderlands but I don't really have the inclination to play through them for a 3rd time on switch.
Plus I'm too tight to pay for it again lol
@NikHogan Splatoon 3 seems different enough already. It has some new cool spawn methods, and the animations look really nice. And it takes place in a completely new area, so it probably will be all-new maps.
@Snatcher I don't think people will outright stay with 2. Unless the spawn changes are really big, I see Splatoon 3 as a much better version of Splatoon 2. But again, there are enough changes to the online matches to not make it way too different but enough to stand out. (probably to story mode to) I probably would keep playing 2, but 3 would probably be more played. I'm not completely finished with 2 yet so...
The only ways I see people staying with 2 is if they remove a weapon that isn't the clash blaster or bloblobber or they change Splatoon 3's multiplayer to where it isn't recognizable.
Neopolitan is spot on with the game modes. There's no reason to keep them restricted to Ranked when they could be used to flesh out the amount of modes available for general access. As great as Turf War is, not everyone wants to stick with it. But because the other modes are restricted to Ranked (and only available one at a time) it's much more difficult to hop on and enjoy those other modes without feeling under pressure.
Split out all the modes to be available all at once, have both Casual and Ranked classifications (yes, even allowing Ranked Turf War), and have three random maps for each mode and class on a two hour rotation. That would go some way to offer a better playing experience.
