My kids have a switch console each and I want to download some games for them, how do you select which console the games will be downloaded to. Also if i down load Mantis burn on 1 switch can i copy it onto another sd card then play it on another switch while its being played on the 1st switch. Cheers

can i copy it onto another sd card then play it on another switch ?

No, you CANNOT.
That will be illegal due duplicating the game file. Also, it's a stealing.
The eshop games that download from eshop after you purchased them will be stay on micro SD card and CANNOT be copied whatsoever.
I guess you are a newbie about video games.

yes 100% newbie to gaming, its my kids that got them not me. How do i select which console to download the games to, i want different games for my boy and my daughter. Or do they have to be downloaded to the master switch and then transfered to the other sd card? or can i just select what switch i want the game to go to

It'd be easiest doing it on the Switch you wanted to download to .... ? Games are usually tied to accounts (I don't know about for children, though)

The games CANNOT be transfered to another micro sd card whatsoever.
The eshop games you purchased from eshop is not a transferable file like files on PC.
If you have two Switch machines, you need to create two different account and the account must be 13 years above (under age 13 years old is not allowed to purchase eshop games). You can cheat their age by change the birth year when making the accounts. It need two different emails for both of them (email A for 1 kid, email B for another kid)

Which console to download the games ??
What was that mean?
You need to buy eshop voucher before purchase eshop games.
That's your money to buy Switch games from eshop.
You cannot just go to eshop menu and then straightly download any games without paying then duplicating the games file. There is NO WAY to do such things like that.

Eshop menu is located on the bottom screen.
You need internet connection to access but you HAVE to create the account before purchasing eshop games. You need 2 different emails before making 2 different accounts. You need to purchase eshop card voucher before purchasing eshop games.

Well, my English is not really good to explain further information.
At least those are the things i could tell to you.

Create a profile for your son and daughter on their respective switches
You can then sign them both into the other's switches as a 'secondary' console. This will give you some limited ability to share games between both switches (you'll have to download them from the eshop on each console too):

This might help :

@toploader2010 I think you'll find that trying to share digital games between multiple consoles is a pain in the butt because, nintendo's ecosystem is designed to make people buy one game per console. If two consoles want to play a particular game at the same time, you're going to want to by one copy per console. Or find games that allow split screen play on tv (using one console).

The primary + non-primary console setup is designed for one person that owns two consoles. One for tv, and one for handheld/on-the-go, and only one console plays at a time. It's not a system that lends itself to two kids & consoles.

thanks all, yes I want to purchase the games from the estore. but want the purchase of the game to go to the correct switch. Switch A(my boys) or Switch B(my daughters). buying different games. Will I need to de register the newest switch(my daughters) and set up a new account for that switch so I can download to the correct switch. If I deregister the switch and set up a new account will the player profile(fortnite) packs thats been purchased still be available when i set up a new account and then my daughter logs into her profile on the switch thats done this change?

@toploader2010 Retail digital game purchases are tied to the email of the account that bought it, and cannot be transferred to a new account. So, you won't be able to access them with the new account. However, since Fornite is free to play & cross platform, Fortnite MIGHT allow you to do that, but if nobody answers, you may want to ask Fortnite support on epicgames website for a solid answer. I've used their email before, got a response within 2.5 hours, which is respectable.

"Contact Us" at bottom of page. (there's also a FAQ page that may or may not help)
https://www.epicgames.com/help/en-US/fortnite-c75/technical-s...

edit: If you set up a new account on your switch, when you open Fortnite, I THINK you can login and connect to your previous account game profile.

@Anti-Matter just a small word of advice: if you're not sure whether you interpret someone's question correctly, tone it down a little and ask questions, before you start accusing someone of theft.
