Hi
I’m new to switch and have bought my child a headset the Nintendo pdp official with mic. I’m trying to work out how to chat using the headset and mic during a game. The game I’ve tried is mariokart 8 delux. Completely at a loss as to what I do. Any help appreciated

Most Switch games do not support voice chat. There are a couple that you can chat with friends through a mobile app on your phone. One game that I know supports voice chat is Fortnite.

@Anon_switch Yeah, Mario Kart 8 voice chat must be done through a phone app: Nintendo Switch Online app. To keep the console family friendly, Nintendo didn't want voice chat to be easy for kids to get access to. Like Kanbei said above, you can use voice chat in Fornite, plugged into the headphone jack.

If you set up Switch Parental Controls, younger age range setting blocks "communication with others"(aka voice chat), so make sure that's not blocking voice chat. If you never set up Switch Parental Controls, you can disregard this part.

Thanks for your help. I had imagined that the headset would be able to be used in most games had no idea it was so limited. Thanks again
