Hi every body.

I bought recently an HDMI to VGA adapter because my TV's HDMI broked up. This adapter is working well with my MacBook but sadly it doesn't work with my Nintendo Switch.. The resolution of my VGA channel on my TV is 720 x 480 and even if I put my Switch on 480p or 720p it still doesn't work! I wonder if it's not a problem of 50Hz or 60Hz because my TV need a 60Hz signal but if I'm not wrong, the Nintendo Switch is already in 60Hz isn't it?

Thank's for your needed help!

You should test that setup on another working tv to see if that is hardware or Switch incompatibility with the adapter.

I just try with another monitor and didn't work. So the adapter is not compatible with the Switch? Why?

It might be something to do with HDCP which if I recall correctly allows two HDMI devices to talk to each other. Not sure exactly how it works but I think it's something like a lock out, I remember Netflix on PS4 wouldn't work without HDCP enabled. My TV has trouble with it so I get intermittent signal loss and static like white dots for the first ten minutes of using my devices. It freaked me out the first time I saw it because it looked similar to my Xbox 360 GPU failing before it died but I was relieved it was the HDMI after a quick Google.

Thanks both of you for helping!

@gimmi_c And how do you resolve your dots trouble?

I can't remember if I did exactly. I use a monitor mainly rather than the television but I seem to remember enabling and disabling HDCP to use the PS4 on the TV (not sure if just flicking it on and off resolved it), also using different HDMI leads (the Poundland one seems to work fine). I think the TV is just old, it has trouble with the nowtv box too (intermittent static until it cuts out, then it's fine).

See ya!
