He recently had to buy a new one due to the sd card reader being damaged.

@blindsquarel oh. Does he still play with the old one? I am just curious

No it still worked fine other than the sad card reader. He just traded it in at GameStop to help lessen the costs of a new switch. Don’t worry about the sad card reader. We both had to share it for awhile and that switch took a beating.

@blindsquarel as a curiosity how did the SD card reader break? Did you guys used your own sd cards or just broke it some how?

Just randomly stopped working about a year ago. No idea how it broke. My theory is that one of us broke it when we were raging playing fortnite. Luckily we both matured up pretty quickly.

@blindsquarel have you guys noticed if the new switch gets hot compared to the launch switch or is the new switch cooler than the launch?

I am just curious if Nintendo had made a fix of the overheating issues most people had on the launch

The only game I notice anything with the fan on the launch switch is breath of the wild. But it doesn’t really get hot to the touch, you can just hear the fan get pretty loud on long play sessions(5 plus hours).
That is for the launch switch. I got my own a couple years ago and just recently upgraded to an oled. So as of now I have no idea how loud the fan gets on newer models.

@blindsquarel good news: I tested the switch yesterday morning

When in hand held mode when I first turned it on after being on sleep overnight

I played the I new DLC courses of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in hand held mode.

I didn't feel the fan spinning at all but it didn't even get so hot.

But after playing Mario kart I played Fortnite and after few minutes I can hear the fans spinning like normal

So I am guessing that the fans are working but not loud under no heavy load

In docked mode on fortnite or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DlC I can hear the fan spinning

At first I thought something was wrong

You know that is not correct, as there would've been a huge outcry with multiple articles and complaints.

The fans are there to stop the switch from overheating, like in a computer. You will hear them working as they are not silent.
It's not like a PS3 and it's impression of a jet engine.

I got a V2 in April 202 and the fan makes a wierd scrapping noise for the first minutes after I turn it on.

Really strange because after scrapping for like 5 minutes, it suddenly stops and I can play for hours with any overheating problems and no wierd noises.. I have warranty until April 2023 so I'm kinda waiting for it to get worse to send it back.
