Topic: Genki Bluetooth stream

I want to order one of these adaptors. But part of me wants to hold off because I feel like as soon as I get it Nintendo could roll out an update to allow the Bluetooth on the Switch for audio. I want to be wrong and right at the same time. We all feel this should be a given to have the ability already. I also want this companies product to do well. It could so easily be useless if that update ever became a thing.

Nintendo won't roll out an update because the switchs Bluetooth doesn't support audio, only controller connections, at least that's what I heard, so I would just buy it

I'll might consider this project if this works as they say. It would be nice if this include headphone mic so that you can use bluetooth headsets with mics. So can those on here posting confirm this?

It won’t come in an update, pretty sure PS4 still only allows USB wireless , Bluetooth audio on consoles doesn’t really exist anymore

For some reason I’m expecting to see something as a first party or official Nintendo licensed product to come out. The phone app doesn’t stream game sound does it? Just chat?

It still baffles me so much that this is not a feature on Switch when it is basically standard on all other portable devices since like 2014. It further baffles me that Nintendo hasn't released a first party or officially licensed 3rd party adapter. The lack of wireless headphone support on the device is one of my few genuine disappointments with the device from a hardware perspective.

I don't know enough about Bluetooth to be honest. I wasn't aware you could support only certain kinds of signals. I thought you either had the device, or you didn't and it was a matter of programming the functionality.

@Heavyarms55 I’m not sure how the Bluetooth stuff works either. They list Bluetooth 4 on the specs page for it. It seems odd to not allow it. The makers of this adaptor say that thing uses less battery to transmit audio than the Switch’s speakers do. So I can’t see it being a power saving issue. I’m still holding out for something after the online starts up. There’s gotta be a headset that will carry audio and chat function.

@DTMOF84 I'd honestly be fine even without chat - I just want wireless headphones that I can use with the system. Though of course chat would be totally preferable...

@DTMOF84 You can get it for dock and for portable - I'd gamble that even if Nintendo changes something they'll fumble one thing. I backed this.

@Dang69 there isn’t an official Switch usb headset is there? I know after an update certain usb headsets would work. Mine for Xbox One won’t work though. Have you got the Genki adapter yet?

Only one I know is from TurtleBeach 450 model that's what they told me so far and it comes with a mobile cable for the NSW so that could be the route to go instead. In docked mode you plug the transceiver into the Docking station USB and go from there. At this point there is limited or less headset that works with the NSW because it is so new and unique in itself.

Well those headset must match aptX-LL codec to work correctly and that could be problematic here if you can't find them.

@SwitchForce @DTMOF84 That's basically how the Genki one will work - USB adapter for docked and one for undocked. I'll let everyone know either way how well it works. I think they're supposed to launch in the next month. I'm sure I'll rant on Switch Force's youtube channel if it's good for bad. The adapters are super cute too.

On the topic of kick starters...don't get that satisfy grip, mine was wayyyy too heavy - not being a baby - it just weighs down on your wrists and exhausts your hands. Feels great in shape - total bummer.

@Dang69 that grip is something else I was about to get. I went for the RDS Industries grip with the case instead. I like it other than having to modify it slightly to get the Switch to sit in it snuggly. It would just slightly move in the grip. It’s good when you add some tape to take up some space though.

@DTMOF84 The Satisfye one, the grip feels perfect, and the Switch slides in perfectly. But it is wayyyy too heavy. Especially if you're buying a grip because your hands or wrists get sore.

The RDS one, I've seen at Best Buy. How weighty does it feel? I don't need yet another case, but I'm basically dying for undocked grip. I work on a computer all day doing design stuff, and for some reason the last couple months have been painful for me to play Switch.

@Dang69 I think the weight of it is light enough. There is a nice rubber textured grip on it I like. If you try it out you’ll probably see what I’m talking about with it not fitting a snug as you’d like. That’s the only complaint I’ve read about it on reviews. I’ve used Gorilla tape on it where the back of the Switch rests to snug it up.

@Dang69 the texture looks like it has small holes it. I think for $19 you can try out something better in my opinion. I saw a YouTube video a while back where a guy took the comfort grip and made it into a grip like that. I’ll see if I can track it down.
