Is anyone excited to see a new title in the Nintendo Wars series? Reboot Camp was a great way to keep it in our memories after decades, but also makes me wonder when Ogre Battle and FF: Tactics will be revived.
A 3D Advance Wars? Something with more units? How can this brand evolve without becoming overly complicated?
Advance Wars is one of my favorite series and I hope Nintendo supports it going forward. I think a relatively easy way for Nintendo to get more content out there with less work and investment than a typical game would be to release some of the older Famicon, Super Famicon and DS games as paid DLC for Advance Wars: Boot Camp on the Switch. I wish more people would give the series a try, these are great games and I’m happy to have Boot Camp on my Switch.
Advance Wars 1+2 didn't even reach 1 million copies sold. It's fair to say the series is on ice indefinitely.
@Magician That's a great tip. It's hard to say when the series is on ice, because it's been such a blowout franchise with new handheld releases. What should they add? More weapons configurations? A collectible handheld console with a custom shell? How can they spice up the formula and get more sales? It's one of Nintendo's greatest designs, I think.
I would love a new game but I feel like 1+2 was the interest gauging game. Doesn’t mean a new game won’t be greenlit, but that corporate isn’t really looking at the series currently. Likely IS will have to pitch a slam dunk (and probably have put out a NS2 FE already) to get corporate back interested in green-lighting a new advance/famicom wars.

Yeah, unfortunately the long delay and highly questionable yet consistent complaints it got I feel like sunk the remake and thus maybe the franchise. It hurts me to say that, since it is genuinely unfair (especially with Pokemon BD/SP being a worse remake that sold more than 20 times better), but it feels like its done.
As cool as Advance wars is (I've watched my dad and younger play Re-boot Camp some), the game didn't even sell a million copies so far as I know. There might not be another one at this point, which is a shame, since it's an interesting series.
