I'm hardly ever at home so it's always in my backpack. When I play at home, its usually in bed in portable mode. So I rarely use the dock, but when I do its a nice treat.

I don't take it out of the house too much yet but I do like to take it out of the dock and play in different rooms at my house. I find it as a very useful option. All my games are in a game room but i've found it's nice to bring it into the living room or bedroom at times and chill in a different spot, or even bring it in the bathroom if I'm gonna be a min. It's fun to change it up and take it with you wherever you feel like going.
So far it's about 90% portable for me, mostly playing in bed while the wife watches the TV. I might play it docked more when Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 release.
Never remove it from my dock, as I have no reason to, and I dislike the idea of risking my home-console when going out and about. I tend to forget things and I also tend to drop things. That and my 3DS fills it's role on the go just fine
I’ve used my Switch almost 100% in handheld, mainly due to handhelds being more of my thing as I prefer to play the system wherever I want to rather than being restricted to one certain place. I may however start using it docked once Odyssey releases.

Played it a bit in handheld mode today and yeah just as I thought, I prefer playing it in docked mode. It's not that it was bad but I just prefer playing games on a big screen more then a small hand held screen.

As both. When I have time for longer sessions, I play docked, but after dinner, I play handheld on my couch.
I’ll probably take it along in vacations, but for stuff here in the city (for example, waiting while my mother has a scanner) I’ll take my 3DS since it is more portable and attracts less attention.
I play docked primarily during multiplayer and when "big" story moments happen in AAA games. Undocked for everything else. There are some Switch games I've yet to even play docked. My last Switch game didn't even see docked play until I fought the final boss.
I use both modes really. But mostly handheld while watching tv. But no doubt tv mode is a much better experience where I keep the best gameplay moments for tv modes.
