Hello everyone,

I'll be picking up a Switch when I visit Japan later this month, and I also plan to buy a copy of BotW while I'm there. I live in Thailand currently, and the prices for all game stuff is 30% higher than Japan.

If I buy BotW in Japan, will I be able to add those Nintendo Points to my American Nintendo account? I don't know if the points are separated by region. Switch games are region free now, unlike previous Nintendo systems, but I don't know if the same applies to the Nintendo Points. Thanks!

If you are adding the (12) points from a physical game, you can choose the account which you have set up on your switch.
So, I have three accounts (US, UK, and Italy). I have 3 physical Switch games (Zelda, Mario Kart 8, Mario + Rappids). MK8 is an Italian physical copy, while Zelda and Rappids are UK copies.
When I added the points, I put them all on my US My Nintendo account. I have done this, it works. You choose the account, when you decide to add them.
If you buy digital from the eshop - of course, then it based on which eshop (i just got Pokken on USA eshop, so the points went to the US My Nintendo account - 60 points, I had no choice)

Hope its clear and help answer your question

just hope you can pick up the switch in Japan .. I think that's one of the hardest countries to find stock in right now ..

@elhozzo No worries. I used my rudimentary Japanese skills to preorder one about a month ago
