Just to clarify, the digital release is in October. However, the physical release isn't until early next year. Also, the $250 CE won't be the only option for purchasing a physical copy. There'll also be a standard retail release.

Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

So....anybody have this yet? How does it run, how is the font on the Switch screen?

@scoobdoo Word on Reddit is that there are loooong loading times when leaving an area, like going in a door from outside, etc. Also commonly mentioned is big framerate chugging slowdown during a sequence with snow falling in a town. And at least one person claims the game just flat out crashed a half dozen times in one total game playthrough so you have to "save constantly".

The tagline for this game is "Become a hero or an absolute disaster."

All these bad reports on forums, but somehow the Switch version has an "85" on MetaCritic? Those 2 things can't be true at the same time...

Which is it guys? Is the game on Switch a hero? Or an absolute disaster?

Fwiw the game was a bit buggy when I played it on the PS5 even, and crashed once or twice. But it's also that good if you like that kind of heavy prose, dice rolling, adventure game. It was one of my favorite gaming experiences that I had in 2021.

Give me a heads-up if you're going to send a request please.

@scoobdoo Game runs fine, loading times around about 15-20 seconds. A crash seems to happen when entering a new area, though this is present on all consoles, there was a patch that reduced the frequency from launch, I'm not sure if it has been patched out entirely. I haven't had a crash thus far. This game is legit, coupled with being on sale for $26, it is hard not to just get it now and stick a physical version in your collection later on.

It's always been a sluggish performer on PC that, even though it'll run on a potato, still seems to struggle a bit even on high-end hardware when it comes to frame drops and load times. It's no surprise that the console versions perform similarly.

That said, it doesn't really matter because of how the game plays. You just wander round environments, talk to people, gather clues and take skill checks. Even by the standards of RPGs, it's decidedly not twitchy.

@Rambler That's more or less my own thoughts too. The performance isn't great but acceptable nonetheless. Voice acting's superb and the writing is fantastic as you say. I did get stuck a few times, not knowing what specifically to do next, but the game doesn't hold your hand that much, which can be a good thing. Hope you have fun with it.

Is it true that 1.0.3 is on cartridge and that there's a day-one patch for 1.0.5.? If true it's most unfortunate. It makes me glad I didn't spring for the $250 LE, but it won't deter me from grabbing a standard copy. I'm eager to play the game.

Just a note to say this game remains frustrating on switch for its load times every time you enter/leave an area (which is often)

Did they actually fix the small font size on switch? At release I've read that even at maximum size the font is a bit small, and I already had trouble with the max font size in Talos Principle. It's the one thing holding me back from buying this game.

Playing this right now on my PS4 and I'm absolutely having a blast!
I'm now considering double-dibbing to play it portably on my Switch. Can someone tell me how performance und legibility in handheld-mode are? Thanks!

On another note: How often have you guys replayed this game?
It's my first playthrough, but I already see myself starting up a new run with different built after I've finished it.

@Rambler

Thanks for the info!
How often have you replayed it? Do you think it has replay value?

I really love the story, dialogue, and characters!
If the magic remains, if I just make some different choices, idk.
But I will definitely give it at least a second go.

So I just finished Disco Elysium and it was definitely a unique experience! The dialogues, characters, and world building are excellent. I really love how your personality traits are characters in themselves, who comment on everything that's happening. But I have to say, the plot twists of the murder investigation felt a little forced and cliché. My biggest gripe is that the game doesn't really value your time. Sometimes you run around for hours without knowing what to do, because there was a dialogue option you still need to trigger, but there's no indication of this anywhere. I also got my self softlocked at some point. After looking for help on the internet, I realized that I have to load a previous checkpoint and loose 3 hours of playtime to progress the story. I also found the ending to be pretty unsatisfying after all the built up. But maybe I got the boring ending resulting from the particular set of choices I made? I'll definitely play the game again with different choices and see how it will go then.

I've started playing this recently, and I'm wondering if the game basically stays like this the entire time or if it gets better. I've heard such great things about it and I love RPGs and detective mysteries, but so far I'm just not having any fun. I don't mind that it's slow or that there is a lot of dialogue. I mind the content of the slow dialogue. If it was actually advancing the story and the mystery it would be great, but so far I'm just sitting through an hour of French history or Nazi propaganda with far too many f-words just to be told to come back later once I do something else. It's frustrating and boring. So does it pick up, or is this just the "game?"
