@bluemage1989 Thanks very much for the compliment, much appreciated. However, having said that, don't ever just take my word, or anyone's word on something, for that matter. I'm a big advocate for people making up their own minds, having a right to their own opinion, and having certain principles.

With that in mind. If any one spots a port they are interested in, check out what the gaming community thinks of the original. store.steampowered.com is a great place to check out user feed back. I'll always check the negative customer reviews there. If there's a particular gripe (eg. this game would be great if the sound didn't keep going out of sync) of mine that keeps popping up in the reviews I won't get the game.

Past reviews have an 84% positive rating
Current reviews have a 79% positive rating

I know Switch games will not 100% mirror the PC/PS4/XBox versions, so the reviews will not be Switch accurate, but getting a balanced and broad view is always the best approach before you part with your cash.

@deadpixels I can agree with that, to a point, and far as I'm concerned, aggregate sites such as GameRankings and Metacritic are a perfect medium for that, since they factor in all platforms, AND incorporate user reviews, so it's a catch all verdict, basically...

But having said that, nothing goes above personal experience. Even if at times, friends recommended a game to me, then I'd visit them to try it out, or simply visit my local game shop, where it's also possible to try a game out, on days when it's not so busy. And I know most of the crew by now, so that offers possibilities...

All that aside, though, I always marvel at how quite a few of these forum topics get side-tracked from their ACTUAL point, which was the rumor that the Darksiders games are coming to the Switch. Instead, a close-minded, and highly opinionated individual has turned the actual topic into a discussion about how average the games supposedly are, which in my opinion is really sad and unfortunate, seeing as more new games and/or more slightly older games coming to the Switch should only ever be considered as a good thing.

Of course, not every game is interesting for everyone, and that's perfectly fine, since that is once again about personal opinion, and taste, obviously, but that doesn't mean that we must use our personal opinion to try to either influence other people's opinions, or make them seem less valid because of some personal view.

@deadpixels I just read some of those Steam.Powered user reviews, and although I like the mix between professional and user reviews, I do think we should ignore stuff like:

  • Good graphics for old game

or:

  • A lot of running and jumping around

or:

  • generic af

I simply can't take stuff like that seriously.

@ThanosReXXX I did try and steer it back on topic with that post.

I remember years ago, the debacle that was Rise of the Robots. Amiga Power was the only magazine I saw that really slammed it. CU Amiga gave it a pretty high score, stopped buying it after that. The journalism issue happens, people need to learn to read between the lines and not assume it's rife.

Anyhoo...

I will (as previously stated) buy this game again on the Switch! Darksiders is absolutely one of my favourite franchises ever! Like actually ever! It's got it all for me. And to be fair to myself I need something to pull me away from Dead Cells, or I fear it may all be over for me

LOL! Yeah, none of that needs to be regarded at all. I tend to look for time spent in game and depth of praise/damnation. I find the best ones are the "I'd love to recommend this game but..." as those seem to be the most telling.

@deadpixels No worries, it wasn't an accusation, and you aren't the individual I spoke of.
Ha, the Amiga days. Now there's something to fondly remember. Just monthly magazines, no online idiots (spouting nonsense and negativity) every darn day...

But yeah, let's get this train back onto the rails. Here's hoping that the rumor is true, and that both the first two as well as the third game will come to the Switch. I will buy the first two games for the third time, if it happens, because I've enjoyed both the Xbox 360 and the Wii U versions, and I'm pretty sure that I'll still like the games on any other platform...

@ThanosReXXX I know, it's all good

I am also in that puddle of hope. I'll probably pick up Battle Chasers:Nightwar too, just to show support. Not yet though, I've already spent over my monthly gaming allowance :/

I have it (Darksiders) on Steam (both versions of both games) and up until I got rid of the PS3 I had it on there too. My kind of game. I can no longer play the Steam versions as I've ditched the PC (well, removed the windows installation from my Mac) and as your signature states... I have a Switch for the same reason. There was nothing the "better" consoles could offer me that I wanted.

@deadpixels @ThanosReXXX I think Darksiders 3 coming to Switch would be a pretty big win for Nintendo. Its a pretty big franchise with a good sales record and I think it would do well with the Switch user base.

I'd be curious to see what a third entry would do to change up the formula. Although I didnt love the previous two entries like I thought I would prior to playing I did still like the game the core combat and exploration were good and the lore was interesting. I'd be more than willing to give a third entry a purchase.

@bluemage1989 Well, what I've seen from it so far, shows a nice balance between stuff that really connects it to the other two games, while still offering a nice twist, both in the lead character, and her move set/abilities, so in my opinion, they're well on their way to make it another enjoyable game in the series.

On a side note: I'm not going to strongly advise it, but what I myself always do, is go into a game not expecting too much, or even just with a neutral expectation, and then let the game win me over all on its own, instead of staring myself blind on numbers, grades and things that others have told me, or that I have read.

When I played the first game for the first time, on the Xbox 360, I hadn't read any review. I just played a little bit at a friend's house and liked it, and playing the full game when I had bought it, was even better. And during that experience, I read up on it a bit more, also because I used to be a comics collector, and recognized Joe Madureira's style in the character design. So, reading these articles and reviews during and after having played it, made it easier for me to relate to, and agree with them as well.

Expecting too much, putting the bar too high, is always a potential pitfall, and I would have potentially enjoyed the games less, if I had read beforehand that they're such great games (or not) and all that. Now, I had the chance to discover them all on my own, without any outside interference, and I really did enjoy them, and loved them, regardless of any potential niggles that the game might have, because all the other things in the games that I discovered were more than good enough to make up for it.

I'd like to see Darksiders 3 for Switch. I own both Darksiders 1 & 2 on my Wii U. Great series looking forward to see something new. Wouldn't buy re-releases on Switch though. I'm happy with the Wii U versions.

I've landed on a strange planet. .

Oh...I really love darksider so especially for darksider 2, I hope it can be played on Nintendo switch, is it possible? Can the darksider team answers this question?

I’ve only played a few hours of Darksiders (at a friend’s house), but I enjoyed it from what I remember. It’d be cool if it came to the Switch.

Now my own quick soapbox on the subject of reviews.

I dislike the concept of film, music, and video game reviews. I understand that they can be used as general guidelines, but feel the experience of these things is often too subjective for a “professional” (whatever that means) reviewer.

Too often, I’ve found myself in complete and total disagreement with the opinion of some “professional” or “expert.” I’ve loved games that received 6’s (out of 10) and hated 9’s.

For example, I watched a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 review by a well-know YouTube personality. The video trashed the game. Turned out he was wrong about just about everything, and it’s become one of my favorite RPG’s of all time.

I understand why reviews exist, but ultimately take them with a grain of salt. I’ve seen too many “professional” reviews that were abysmally inaccurate.

Just my two cents.
