Topic: Cross platform games, is Rocket League the first?

So it sounds like Rocket League is going to be cross platform supported with PC and Xbone. As far as I can tell, this is a first for a game on a Nintendo platform. But I could be wrong.

Has this happened before?
Do you think other games will support this in the future, or is this a one off oddity?

Also I am sorry if this is a redundant topic, I didn't see if anyone else had started a thread on Cross platfrom games on Switch.

Minecraft will also support cross platform play once the "Better Together Update" releases on the Switch.

Pretty sure Pure Chess on Wii U and 3DS was the first to allow crosd-platform with non-Nintendo platforms. That was between Wii U, 3DS, Tablet, and phone, I believe. The first on Switch is the recently released Chess Ultra, between Switch, XB1, and PC.

If you count simply 3DS and Wii U, MH3U allowed for that. But then you'd have to go back to FFCC: Echoes of Time for Wii and DS cross-platform for likely the very first, if not mistaken.
