@Zuljaras Weren't we just talking about this a bit ago?

I am excited for it, since I had my 3DS stolen I haven't been able to play these but now I finally can.

Awesome to see these released again! Kinda sucks you can't get a full screen mode with the map accessible by a button press instead of it being on the screen Taking up space. What's everyone's preferred display mode? It's weird seeing these on a TV looking so pixely and blown up. Kinda doesn't look so good on my 50 inch 4K TV. Anyway glad these games are getting a second chance. Now where the hell is Symphony of the night? PS4 got that requiem collection. Where's ours?

Since we are talking about Castlevania, I was wondering if anyone can help me. I been stuck in Harmony of Dissonance for some time (Over a year since I got any further). Basically all the unexplored areas in both castle A and B are blocked by either a wall or locked doors. I been running back and forth using portals between the two castles but keep running into a wall or locked door and don’t know how to get further. I forgot the last boss I fought (If anyone knows a way to check on that please let me know). I know this is a game outside of this collection but I was hoping someone here could give me some tips on how to possibly get further. I really want to finish this game.

So, there are progression items for those. The doors are unlocked by keys but more on that later.

One of the main items you need is the Crushing Stone. You equip it to your whip and when you hold attack and release you can destroy those walls. You can find it in the clock tower BUT you need to hit a spiral gear column to lower the stone and then backtrack to actually get it.

HUGE tip - you know the Round doors that change you from Castle A to B by pressing up. Well by pressing down in front of the same doors will teleport you to the next explored round door room in the SAME castle. This is HUGE for backtracking and many people do not know it REMEMBER THAT!!!

As for going to the top of the castle, the chapel area. You need to crush a wall in the Wailing Way in one Castle and in the same sport in the other Castle you will have a passage now accessible. There you will fight the Shadow boss, and you will get Maxim's Bracelet so you can unlock the door to the top Castle area.

If you have any other questions, just ask.

Harmony of Dissonance is really underrated gem!

@Don

First and foremost, remember what Death said- the Castle isn't Dracula's Castle, per se, but rather a Castle stuck between two dimensions. Your actions in one (breaking down a wall, conversations with Maxim's personalities) affect the other "layer."

There's probably a wall or door you haven't gone through that will open up an area in the opposite side of map A or B. Happened to me on my first playthrough as well. I think that fools alot of people with this game.

@Zuljaras
Thank you, it looks like the crushing stone is what I needed. I had to use YouTube to locate both the spiral gear and crushing stone but managed to obtain it. I will pull out a walkthrough and use it in case I get stuck again. I appreciate the tips regarding the portal doors, it’s definitely helpful in saving a lot of time getting to a far away door in the same castle. I assume I still have a ways to go before the final boss?

I just found the crushing stone needed to break the wall barriers. I wish this game gives better clues on what you need to do or get next. I remember Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission that came out around the same time, both give clues on the next location with similar maps to this game, although I understand it’s made by completely different developers.

@Don

Yes that's understandable that you'd get mixed up Metroid fusion basically tells you exactly where to go. It's a very linear game. Zero mission just let's you figure it out on your own mostly. As for Harmony of dissonance it really wasn't explained all that well. At the point you start swapping between maps A and B it can get very confusing.

First time i kept checking and re checking both maps and going where in the bloody hell am i supposed to go dammit! I remember that well.

Anyway back on topic here, I just downloaded this game so I will be checking them out tomorrow. Not sure which one I want to start with. Really want to start Portrait but might start with Dawn.

I definitely have questions before buying it. Dawn of Sorrow was my first Castlevania and still my favourite! I spent a lot of time playing all three of the DS games! But I wanna know some things first:

1. Sisters Mode in Portrait of Ruin, the original used the touchscreen for their attacks, what are they like to play as?
2. Albus in Order of Ecclesia, the original used the touchscreen to let him teleport around the screen with ease, how does that work now? Is it more cumbersome?
3. Apparently for some reason they've rewritten or re-translated some lines? But they've introduced errors by doing so, both in the new lines and in lines that weren't changed. I've seen a screenshot that shows at least one double space where there wasn't one before.

I must say the Haunted castle revisited game is quite good! I never could get very far in the original and Simon walked like he has a cob up his butt. It was a clunky mess with bad hit detection. Revisited fixes everything and makes it fun! Is this the first time that version of the game existed or had it been released before elsewhere?

Just abruptly rolled the credits in dawn of sorrow. I was fighting Dario for a second time and after beating him the credits rolled much to my surprise. I've read this is only one ending. I'm not one to normally 100% a game, or try to find multiple endings. So my question is this, is it worth exploring the remaining couple areas in the game to get any other endings? What's the benefit to doing so? Thanks in advance! For now, I'll just play and beat haunted castle revisited until I get some feedback.

rushiosan

@NintendoByNature Short answer is yes, most Castlevanias since Symphony of the Night have multiple endings and a huge chunk of the game lies beyond the "bad" conclusion. It's worth exploring them all. In Order of Ecclesia, for example, you'll be missing 50% of the game if you stop right after the first ending.

@rushiosan ok thanks. I did just start gunbrella but I'll keep playing it for a little while.

I've made it to menace . Phase 1 I can pretty much do without taking damage. Phase 2 there seems to be no end in sight. I'm level 44 or 45 I believe. Any tips and tricks? Much appreciated.

@NintendoByNature Destroy the extra heads. One is on the "belt" and the other is on the "knee". For them use the Mandragora or Erinys souls.

After that start to strike at the main head. Since when you hit it, the skull closes you have to use one-time big damage souls. Mandragora or Great Axe Armor are great for this.
