@Zuljaras Marriage is a big commitment. One that should be life-long. You guys were smart and didn't rush into it. It's refreshing to see. I hope someday to have a husband I can be with on that level of trust and interpersonal harmony.
Anyway, I'll stop derailing this thread, but I was happy to hear about that.
What's your favorite game in this collection? For me, Order of Ecclesia is a top 3 Vania. I miss the older style of games, and OoE brought back a lot of the challenge I loved in those entries.
Order Of Ecclesia is my favorite Castlevania period, I love the combat system, the dark atmosphere, and how it feels like it brings together elements from all the games prior. Portrait Of Ruin is another Top 3 though for that awesome dual-character system. The DS trilogy as a whole is fantastic and I've been begging for it to come to Switch.
@Ralizah OoE for sure! It was so refreshing to see a female protagonist that is not just eye candy but also a badass! And this is the only game in the series where Dracula actually WALKS!!!
Absolutely wonderful to see these games finally get republished in any form.
I'll probably hold out for inevitable Limited Run Games physical, but I'm tempted to grab them right away.
I find it quite interesting that they adapted the secondary screen to display both at once.
On the original DS releases, your secondary screen would display character status + most recently engaged enemy, or a map screen.
So in a sense, this release is a three-screen experience! I have to wonder if it's using any DS emulation as a result?
I'll be honest, I'm shocked they're back. Didn't think Konami would want to pay for decent DS ports tbh, I'd assume they'd put out the older 3D games in a collection before it.
I still own my copies of all three games so I don't need it (and I'm not buying it for Haunted Castle :V), but cool to see...wait...
...I don't think Symphony of the Night is on Switch, which is hilarious. Nintendo once again gets the entire Igavania series except the original/most popular one. :V
@BrazillianCara
The 2 previous collections were exclusive to Limited Run.
I see, but I wanted to know how they were priced compared to the digital releases, how long it took them to release, and how readily available they were/are currently.
Getting a physical copy of this collection isn't that important to me, but it would still be nice if it's not a bad deal and the right opportunity presents itself.
@BrazillianCara
$35 for each collection. This one will likely be $40, since the digital version is more expensive than the other 2 collections. It took about half-a-year (maybe less) for each of them to ship and you can still find copies around the internet, albeit at a noticeably higher price (I can find both of the collections at 60 bucks each from a local store).
Very interested to know how playing as Stella and Loretta will work in Portrait of Ruin, seeing as they were controlled with the touchscreen on DS, and also Albus' teleport ability in Order of Ecclesia
