Is anyone experiencing any difficulty trying to purchase anything from the eShop?

Last night I bought Fe from the Russian eshop, but then when I tried to buy Valley and Flipping Death on the South African store, I was met with error 2813-2470, and a message saying that I couldn't use this card and to contact my bank.

I then tried a credit card from a different bank, same problem. Then my Mrs' card from another different bank. Same error.

Tried the UK store. Same error. Then the Russian eshop considering it had just worked. Same error, not matter the card.

Tried to buy using the eShop website on my phone. This time met with error 9001-0091, and that an error had occurred.

Brother is also getting the same error with the UK store. It's extremely frustrating considering the sale for these games ends today!

@ScottWood101 You said the same thing happened with your brother. Is this on the same Switch?

I seem to recall a similar problem a while back. Is it still playing up?

I ended up paying via PayPal. I linked my eshop account to my PayPal account, purchased the item, then de-linked it.

I think NIN doesn't allow the same email address to be registered to two different account and that may extend to the form of payment as well. They could flag that as stolen Identity purchases using another person info. So you should have different email address as well a different forms of payment on those accounts ie don't use the same PayPal account on Main and backup.

To answer everyone's questions.

Brother lives in a separate household with his own switch.

Each regions eshop has its own distinct email address attached to it and has worked fine since launch date.

Only thing I haven't tried is paying via PayPal but then again that only works in the same region as your paypal account, in my case the UK store.

@Scottwood101 Did you contact your banks? It's unlikely but not impossible that your identity could be compromised. It certainly couldn't hurt to double check your accounts.

I’m in the same boat as you I contacted my bank and they just said everything was normal so I connected to PayPal and it worked then unlinked it however debit card still doesn’t work. Apparently the latest update was meant to fix a purchase issue yet I’m still getting one and I’m updated

@Staceylee Around March/April, Nintendo had some security issues, and made some changes to their purchasing system. After which, some people's credit cards no longer worked on Switch eshop. I believe a solution is to link your Nintendo account/eshop to paypal. Which I believe requires you to log into your nintendo account on nintendo's website.

Edit: I'm in the US, and have been using paypal for Switch eshop since 2017.

@Staceylee another option contacting is Nintendo. At the bottom is a nintendo support page that recommends contacting Nintendo. Maybe there's not one solution for every country. I've helped people in US, UK, EU, Brazil, AUS. I must admit that I'm not sure what Nintendo support is like for South Africa. The next step would be to find the Nintendo.com region selector.... Ok, I looked South Africa has a nintendo support contact page. In general Nintendo's Support is pretty good. You can try here.(link below) Let me know what solves your scenario, in case it can helps someone else. (and because Im curious)

@Staceylee If you need to change your eshop region, that can only be done in your nintendo account on the nintendo website. (Region settings on the switch console do not affect your eshop.) It took me a while to figure that out, and that's where a lot of people get stuck. If you know that bit, you can disregard.
