Topic: Can I get my game save data from a dead switch to a new one?

Hello everyone I’ve been looking around online and haven’t been able to find much so I thought coming here might help

So basically my switch won’t charge or turn on and I’m just going to buy a new one but I have a lot of save data from games and no sd card so if I got a new switch logged into my account and then but the game card in would all my data be saved still?

@BlueEthan Yeah I’m sorry, you need to be able to use the switch in order to transfer. So unless you can do that, it’s gone.

@Raiko I did have a subscription for just about the entire time I had the switch so all I would have to do is sign in and re get the subscription?

If you backed up your games to cloud saves, you're all good.

Otherwise, all the data on your Switch - including the SD card - is encrypted with a key that is unique to it and is unreadable by anything else.

@BlueEthan Nintendo keeps your save data on the cloud for 180 days after your subscription ends.

I have the subscription but unless you turn that on the Switch they won't do it automatically.
