Hey, I'm wondering if there is a way to connect my switch to the displayport on my monitor? It's the only port I have left and was hoping I could but I'm just going to check first before I go ahead and buy any cables.
Apparently those aren't bi-directional but the company selling those did recommend this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0752D33PJ I take a chance and give it a go. Worst comes to it I'll just have to return it.

Knowing what kinda monitor you have would help others to figure what works as well.
I actually just tested this and it works. The trick is that you need to use a Active HDMI to Display Port Adapter. What I mean by Active is that it has to have extra/more power due to the fact that the source (in this case the Nintendo Switch) does not know how to do the conversion itself so you need a Active Display Port Adapter that has a chip built-in that can do the conversion for it. For example, this one I bought on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JQORLCG/ref=oh_aui_detai...

If computer monitor my setup is DP connect to my GPU and my HDMI connected to NSW. So is there a reason why you can't do this setup? I did it this way and have no problem playing on the same monitor. I did output the sound out from the HDMI to the speaker and it work just fine to play on the same monitor. It would be good to know what monitor model you are talking about as well.

I have an Apple 27 inch Thunderbolt Display and I'm trying to find out if I can connect my Switch to it using an adapter. The port seems to be a Thunderbolt and not a Mini Displayport. The user's manuel says this:
"Thunderbolt port (high-speed data, video, and audio)
Connect Thunderbolt-compatible devices for high-speed data transfer, or connect
another display that uses Thunderbolt. This Thunderbolt port is not compatible with DVI,
VGA, or DisplayPort displays or adapters."
Do you think there is hope for me to find the right adapter to connect my Switch and get both video and audio from my Thunderbolt Display?
