Topic: Breath of the Wild: Some Questions on Gameplay

So I took the plunge and bought myself a Switch. They were having a special at the store where I worked so I saved sixty bucks, which paid for Breath of the Wild.

Amazing piece of tech and I can see it's going to take some time to figure even simple things out, like swinging a weapon, etc. I'm spending a lot of time exploring on the Great Plateau and so I thought I would sign up here on the forums to ask some questions.

How do you get those apples? I sat under a tree jumping up and down and even tried climbing up there, but I couldn't get those darn things. I even cut a tree down, but for some reason the apples were gone when it fell. Is there some trick to getting these things?

The move toggle on the right joypad is kind of weird. It moves in the opposite direction I'm moving. Is this normal or do I need to set up something to have it oriented the other way?

Had to search around for some type of image of the joypad controls so I know which ones do what. For the first fifteen minutes I was just trying to figure out how to swing a weapon, lol.

The apples just rolled away, you need to be quick. If you hit he tree with a blunt weapon it may also drop the fruit.

Bloop.

It's possible to pick up the apples straight from the tree by pressing A to grab them mid-jump but it's not easy, so otherwise just do what Yosheel said. I'm not sure what you mean about the right joypad though.

I found a bow and some arrows so now I'm just shooting them out of the trees. Found I can aim with the bow by tilting the switch around, which is pretty cool.

For some reason the joypad on the right controller moves in the opposite direction in which I move it; if I move right it goes left, etc.

I always just jumped and collected them, but they should come down if you chop the tree down.

I wouldn't recommend using a bomb, however, as you won't be able to find the fruit afterward.

Save your arrows. You're REALLY going to want a lot of those.

Didn't have that experience. Have you tried changing stuff in the in-game settings menu?

Ah yeah, a lot of games have inverted camera controls like that. I believe you can turn it off in the options menu (press + to open your inventory, then press R to go to the System menu, select Options and there should be an option to turn off 'inverted horizontal camera' or something like that).

Thanks that worked. I didn't see the inverted camera thing, but I just re-calibrated the right joypad and it's working now.
