Hello everyone, after seeing super mario odyssey I definitely want to get a Switch. However, Black Friday is coming up and I don't know if I should wait for a substantial discount on not only the console but games and accessories as well. I remember in 2013 when the PS4 and Xbox One launched there weren't any discounts on Black Friday but that made sense because those consoles were released in November so it wouldn't be smart to do that. However, in the Switch's case, it's different. I am getting anxious because my local Best Buy only has 3 or 4 of the consoles left so I don't want to lose out on getting one but I don't want to get to anxious and buy one too quickly.
Please let me know your thoughts on whether I should wait or pick one up as soon as possible.
@sr9speed
It’s possible some stores could be doing a Black Friday sale on Switch items, but the only things confirmed at the moment is a Zelda themed 2DS bundled with Ocarina of Time 3D for $80, and there is also going to be an “Explorer’s Edition” of Breath of the Wild that is bundled with a collectible map and guide book for $60. Any other deals are up to the stores I suppose and the Black Friday ads are yet to release.
Yeah I saw that but I didn't think that those were the only deals on Black Friday. Sometimes Best Buy has really good discounts on accessories and games for other consoles but I don't know their history with Nintendo stuff perse. I know Nintendo games generally don't go down in price unless used. Do you recommend buying the console asap and waiting for black Friday for the other stuff or just waiting for everything?
Switch console availability is still so limited that I doubt there would be a worthwhile discount to be found. And even if a retailer were to discount it, you'd probably have to be there at opening to have a shot at getting one. For what my advice is worth, if you want one before February or March, I'd buy before Black Friday.

As Burning_Spear said, I would reccomend just getting it now, right now a lot of stores have some since its the calm before the storm, and the chances of the console being on sale is incredibly low, perhaps games or accessories, but definetly not the system. The system will most likely be hard to find again until January is my guess since people will be getting Switches for the holidays.
That's good to know, I better act fast then since even my local Best Buy only has a few left. Do you guys have any suggestions on any first pickups for it? I'm definitely getting Odyssey but I wanted to get maybe one or two more in addition to that. Also, should I buy a pro controller or another set of joycons.
@sr9speed It depends on what type of games you like, although I would reccomend Breath of the Wild, perhaps get MK8 Deluxe for some multiplayer as well. I personally like the pro controller a lot, so if you have big hands it should feel more comfortable, otherwise if you plan on doing a lot of 3-4 player stuff in games like Mario Kart 8, I would reccomend getting a second set of joy cons.

@NintenNinja16 I have normal sized hands so the joycons didn't feel super small. I haven't tried the pro controller yet but didn't mind the joycons in the grip configuration. Does the pro controller feel similar, better, or worse than the joycons in the grip?
@sr9speed The Pro controller feels a bit different than the grip in my opinion, although I would personally say it feels better than the joy cons. The buttons are bigger on the pro controller compared to the joy cons as well. Since you have normal sized hands I think you'd be alright with the joy cons, but if you have a chance to try them out at the store, I'd suggest trying out the pro controller just to be sure.

Depends on whether 4 player multiplayer or dedicated singleplayer (with 2 player multiplayer as an extra) is more important.
Despite what a select few may tell you, a Pro Controller is NOT an essential purchase, but it is arguable the best way to play. If you expect plenty of singleplayer time with the occasional 2-player local multiplayer then it may be worth it.
I'd say an extra set of Joycons is only worthwhile if you want 4-player local multiplayer or 2-player Arms local and both want motion controls.
3DS/2DS gets the biggest page space with doorbuster deals on the LOZ 2DS.
Various games (3DS Mario Maker, Yoshi Wooley World, Pokemon, others) are 24.99 instead of 39.99.
Switch (system) is prominent on the back page but with no discounts.
Page 12 has various PS4/XBox games on sale, multiplatform stuff, but Just Dance 2018 is half off for Switch and Lego Worlds is 15 dollars.
(Conspiracy/Tin Foil Hat time) Also on page 12, by the 25 dollar and 35 dollar sections there are red game cases shown that kinda look like Switch cases. Both sections say "Games shown and more" which maybe means we could see a couple more games on sale.
@JonSpangler I was hoping Target would discount some of the games or accessories for the Switch. It seems like they're only discounting 3DS stuff. Hopefully, other stores release their Black Friday ads soon as well.
Here's the best buy black friday ad. Doesn't seem to be any different from what nintendo said earlier. 1/2 switch is the only Nintendo game that's discounted I believe.
