I was at work today and noticed that the table is bent. The back center seems to be puffing up. I thought it could be the battery but isn't it located on the right hand side?
If I lay it down I can wobble it and even spin it around. I'm wondering if it's from the heat reshaping the plastic.
I'll try to post pictures when I get home later tonight since I'm in mobile. P
Nintendo really should have shipped an instruction manual with the console for this reason. They ordinarily contain instructions on what temperatures and conditions to store the console in etc.
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
@Nazariy007 People pay extra for curved screen TVs. Maybe you're lucky?
In all honesty, that's slight enough that people could have it and not notice yet. Personally, I'd return it and wait for new ones to come in stock. I would NEVER send it to Nintendo if I could avoid it.
If it was heat related, I'd think only the back would be bowed out. Could it have been this way since day 1?
Are you sure you didn't do this somehow by pushing on the screen to hard while holding the joycons or in a case or something? (Not saying you did, but heat probably wouldn't bend the whole thing, just the back).
It should be interesting to see responses that say 'no mines fine' without checking, that's how these things usually go.
@Dreamliner
I have asked a few people I know if they see theirs being bent, but no luck. I absolutely am aware there no pressure added to the unit to cause it to bend that way. What I'm thinking happened was the heat caused the console to over heat and with the joy cons attached it caused it to bend from its own pressure while resting on a table. Due to the lifted triggers the table is left hanging off the ground.
Could also be a battery expanding in a strange way, but Nintendo will let me know. When I called them they were completely baffled with it. We'll have to see what happens when they get it in.
looks like it was sat on, its not just the back from the pictures looks like the screen is bent too. if thats the case i say either when shipped something bent it or it was sat on
I have the same issue with my switch. It has mostly been used on the dock to play but when I have taken the unit out its stored in a RDS hard sided case. I did not notice this on day 1unboxing or when I installed the hori screen protector. I wonder if heat from playing on the dock can cause this issue.
@Tricked2L
I didn't notice mine either until I actually was showing a co worker the details and then I saw it. Did you contact Nintendo? Any information?
As to Koz: This was not sat on. It's plastic and would have snapped or broke the LCD from the pressure of sitting. Plastic also tends to be more flexible and would have formed back to its original shape. There are no stretch/tear marks on the plastic that indicate force bending.
It's something to do with the heat or was shipped this way.
Yep...Ive had two in my possesion from launch. One of them had this bulge and was a little bent and rocked a little when laid flat. The one I have now does not, or at least did not out of the box.
Temperatures on my temp gun have shown the unit to hit well over 40 degrees celcius when docked, not sure but I think 44 is the highest reading to date.
@Nazariy007 I have not had a chance to contact Nintendo yet. I just realized this phenomenon Saturday while out with the kiddo playing Bomberman at a chickfila.
Calling Nintendo support today is high on my priority list so I can get this straightened out. No pun intended... @skadollax Have you contacted Nintendo about the difference between the 2 units you have? Did you notice if it was like that OOTB or at some other point in its use?
@tricked2L
The bent one went back to the shop where it was purchased.
It was like that the moment I took it out of the box BUT the only reason I noticed it immediately was because I had another to compare it with and the other was perfectly flat.
I'm a little concerned with the build of these switch consoles so after the first week I went back to the store & paid for an extended warranty. Now I'm no longer concerned.
@Nazariy007 I spoke with Nintendo the other night and described to them my problem with the bow in the tablet. They want me to send the unit in for review and have set up a work order to have it processed. I also noticed that my dock front plate has a bend to it and is .050" or 1.25mm smaller at the top opening than at the bottom. Nintendo requested that I also send that part in for warranty service. Only problem is all this is I'll be extremely unhappy if I lose my 35+ hours of save data from Zelda BotW. Btw service also acted like other customers have not experienced this same problem.
@Tricked2L
Yeah my dock is bent the same way. Very minuscule but noticeable. Nintendo has received my switch and ill keep posting with updates.
I have two users on mine with each having 20+ Hours on each. Let's hope that Nintendo has an internal cloud saving system or they swap our SSD into any replacements.
