So I picked my son up a Lite for Christmas because I am fed up with my builds on Minecraft ending up looking like his room when his idiot friend has been over. 5 year olds eh?

Would it be best just creating him his own account (I'll make him an email too). I'm not bothered about him accessing my Switch as he will have his own stuff and any downloads/games he wants will just be his.

If I do that, can he be added to a Family account? Or is this mega different?

I'm pretty sure if you make him his own account, he'll be able to be added to a Family plan for NSO if that's what you're asking about. There may be some parental controls that you won't be able to access since it's his own account, but I'm not sure at all about that.
