So this is coming out in 10 day. Anyone getting this? Anyone here played any of the previous ones? I'm not usually great at turn based/management games but this one is intriguing me.
I have beaten all Atelier games on PS2, PS3, PS4 and Vita. I really love the series and plan to get the PS4 version of Lydie as well. It is really fun to unlock trophies in those games, I have all the platinums except one.
I really like the time management but surely it is not for everybody. The turned based system is not as complex as other games but hard if you don't exploit the item making mechanic.
The storyline varies from passable to very interesting. The trilogy that will end with Lydie is not that interesting if seen as a whole since the whole world building is not as good as the Dusk (previous) one. Too bad it did not end properly.
@DonkeyDiddyKong I'm definitely interested. I love crafting and turn-based games, and this sounds like a pretty good one. It might be a while before I can buy it, but buy it I will.

I'm wondering if this is the type of game I need to play the previous ones for to understand the story? I doubt it but from the trailer I saw, talking about mysterious faces and "coming to its conclusion" I'm a bit worried.
Either way I'm planning on getting a Koei Tecmo game, they have been way too kind with third party on Switch and I appreciate that so I want to support them. Already got Fire Emblem Warriors but it isn't my cup of tea so I'm just being a bit more cautious is all.
People might think I'm childish for my picture, and I am.

If you like Kirby, then you are a person I can trust.
I'm really thinking about making this my next purchase as I've already ran through Kirby (and I'm sure I'll have completed it's "extra mode" by the time this releases as well), but I'm worried about how well it's optimized for Switch.
As a more budget release on PS4, I'm sure it SHOULD have no problems, but the same thing should have been the case with Knights of Azure 2 as well, but we've heard how that turned out.

I would definitely have given this series a look if I ever owned a Sony platform, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that this is coming to Switch.
I have little to no idea as to what the game is about or the gameplay for that matter, but it looks really appealling (and oh so pretty) so I will definitely be grabbing this on day one.
Porygon did nothing wrong.

Down the line I'm definitely playing it, but I've got so much Atelier to catch up on yet. The only game I've played in the series is Rorona Plus, but I adore it, even if it is a bit of an unbalanced mess in places. It's the kind of game where you can get to the point where every random encounter is only dealing one damage and still get your butt kicked by the boss. Definitely more than made up for that though with how addicting and fun the rest of the game is though. Crafting is consistently rewarding, exciting and keeps giving you tons of goals to chase after from progressing the main quest to levelling up your alchemy to improving friendships with NPCs which in turn lets you access their own side-stories to getting the best possible equipment to take on the next boss with and so on. It's quite charming too with a very laid-back and chill atmosphere compared to most JRPGs.
Definitely glad to see the series make it's way to Switch. With the Vita on it's way out I thought that the PS4 (which I don't own) would be the only way to continue the series, so Nintendo getting some love from the series finally is great.
Even after 5 years of gaming as a hobby, there are still so many games I have never played and genres I've never explored.
Playing Attack On Titan 2 now, and I don't even watch anime. But it's a really good game actually. Gonna find out what this Potion Crafting RPG is all about when it drops.

I've played one of these so far. It was fun but pretty basic. This game has New Game Plus, if you're looking to 100%. Don't fret if you can't get all the jobs and achievements on the first run.
Something that bugs me about the recent titles, they sell characters as DLC. Pretty stupid for a turn-based RPG, but it is what it is.
Decided to bite and put in the pre-order on Amazon after watching a 15 minute gameplay video of the (Japanese) Switch version on YouTube (it was posted by a channel called Reviews 2 Go if you're interested).
Apparently, in the video description, it states that if you pre-order on Amazon or the publisher's official site, you get some free DLC (a couple costumes, some stuff to get you started, and maybe a few other bits and bobs).

I've been saying I would get this further down the road, but the promise of free DLC and a reduced Amazon Prime preorder price finally broke me and I just "preordered" - on the day it releases. I couldn't help it, it just looks really good and I'm a huge sucker for alt costumes.
Got in about an hour playtime today. Here are my first impressions (UNDOCKED, I should specify).
It seems to run consistently (no frame drops as I recall), although it feels a tad sluggish moving around (like maybe it's a tad below 30 FPS, but consistent at whatever it's running at). Could be that movement in general is just a tad slow and not a framerate issue at all (for what it's worth the one battle I've engaged in ran just fine, and as a turn based RPG, I don't think this'll be a big issue overall anyway). Could possibly be a bit snappier in docked mode (haven't yet tried it).
It's budget roots do show, from the fact it lacks an English dub (this doesn't really bother me, and will probably be a plus to some, I felt like I should mention it), and while important characters look fine, unimportant NPCs and the environments look like HD-uprezzed PS2 assets.
The story is pretty light fair (and as far as I'm aware it'll stay that way. The fact that it bucks the trend of "off to save the world" is one of it's assets, I hear), and while I felt like they spent a little too much time on it in the opening hour because of that, there is some mystery to be had.
Overall, I just need to spend some more time with it to form a better opinion (I have a feeling I'll get into it a bit more once I have some more freedom). I'll try docked mode (and download my free DLC) tomorrow.

Sorry for the double post, but I've spent more time with it.
It's opened up a bit (the main quest is picking up, I've gotten a new party member, and can take on sidequests) so I'm starting to enjoy it.
My only major gripe is that I believe you can only save from your house (there is a "save & exit" option in the menu, but I've never gotten a save notification after pressing it, it just leaves the menu, I haven't been brave enough to test it).
@SwitchForce, after downloading, the DLC is automatically added to your inventory upon starting up your game.

@RR529 I got my copy on Thursday but I've only had time to play an hour or two so far. Still learning the system and discovering the basics. A bit disconcerted by the fact that nobody sems to be the age they look or sound like. I know it's an anime thing, it's not my first time with this kind of thing, but it's weird. Lydie and Sue sound like they're 10, are drawn like they're 16, dress like they're 20-something, and are treated by the townspeople like they're maybe 12... and their dad sounds like a 40-year-old but is drawn like a 20-something. The character designs are nice, they just don't always match everything else.
The story is pretty basic so far, but I'm getting into it.
I've only seen the most basic combat and crafting still, so can't really judge them yet.
Will report back with further impressions after the weekend, assuming family life gives me time to play. Is anybody else playing this?

I'm fighting the urge to order this one today. Probably going to end up caving in like I always do. hehe
But I've bought so many games this past week, that I really should slow down.
Been a big KoeiTecmo fan since I bought Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 on a whim nearly 5 years ago now.
They games aren't always the most polished or deep, but they always seem to be a lot of fun and have heart, that's for sure.
I think I'm up to 70 or 80 musou games by now over all systems and I really still want to pick up Nights of Azure 2 as well.
Does anyone by any chance have Attack on Titan 2? I got someone on my list who already has over 20 hours of playtime on it and the videos seem interesting, but I'm not sure I grasp all the game systems yet.
Any impressions?

Even though most are time sensitive, it looks like sidequests appear on a rotating schedule of sorts (I've had quests I've completed before reappear on the notice board), so it doesn't look like you could miss them for good. Not sure if quests you get from NPCs are timed though however, but it looks like that's one less thing to worry about.
Now if they could only do something about the overabundance of "slice-of-life" cutscenes, lol. I don't dislike them by any means, but it seems pretty heavy handed as you can't synthesize more than two items, or return from a quick trip from a dungeon for any reason, without one engaging.
Anyhow I really think I'm starting to find my groove, and other than some minor performance issues in portable mode, it's a good time.

Played a few more hours of this and it is really opening up. I'm actually feeling a little overwhelmed with all the options in alchemy, as it isn't really clear what does what. But it's all good, we will proceed by trial and error like real alchemists!

Yeah, the first few hours are pretty much a tutorial, but it's pretty fun once it opens up (and even relaxing once you realize there really aren't any time limits).
In terms of paintings so far, my least favorite has to be The Spooky Forest. The theme itself is a bit tacky to start with, but it's by far the ugliest part of the game so far, and the area with the worst performance (not terrible by any means, but frame drops do seem to be more prevalent here).
However, I really liked The Icy Grotto. It looks beautiful, and the boss was much more bad*** than I was expecting, coming from this game.
Those are the only two paintings I've been to so far though (not counting the one you briefly enter during the opening hour). So far all three real world dungeons I've visited have been pretty generic, though pleasant, forest variations (what looks like a cavernous region has opened up, but I haven't been there yet).
