@hybridseed just watched your replay, youre doing a fine job already. Couple of thoughts to try:
on the boss dont forget to use all those collected bullets and fire them back at him (ZR).
If you miss a chain opportunity and have an uneven number of white/black ships to take down, its worth trying to preserve the chain and avoid trying to kill everything, take it slow and steady and try to get yourself better prepared for next phase rather. When I scramble to get all the ships in a blind panic I often bugger up the following waves too. Let it go and focus on next wave.

@Daftbomb That was an awesome run, great to watch, you got mad skillz... Noticed you were in the top 100 earlier! Gotta be so quick switching through the bullet waves in the middle of stage 2!
@OorWullie I love your tactics for the opening of stage 2 I'll be trying that if I ever actually get on to stage 2 again! Gonna have a few more runs b4 bed..
My target for myself for now is 1.5, hopefully 2 by the end of the challenge, real glad this got extended!
Just watching my own run back which has proved very useful as I can now understand what I've been doing wrong on 2 sections on stage 2.
Also gave myself a laugh watching how pathetically my last 2 lives were lost at the 2nd boss. To go on such an epic journey and then go out with a whimper like that is really poor.
@OorWullie it wasn't poor, was that the first time you got to that boss? If you want an even bigger laugh watch my replay that I just put up... beat my score slightly but watch how I went out... trapped on stage 2😂
@OorWullie and @Daftbomb Thanks, I'm finally starting to get it, getting close to 400k most runs off that first section now, just need to learn the game wave by wave.. good times😃
@hybridseed I've made it to that boss 3 or 4 times now. Oddly the closest I've come to taking it down was on my first encounter with it haha.
Just to add,if you haven't already noticed. The key to knowing when you've hit your 3 chain is when the combo score flashes up. If you've missed a couple of enemies in a wave, just shoot enough enemies of the colour you last shot until the combo flashes up then ignore the rest.Every single enemy has a purpose to max your score but if you miss a couple then you will need to ignore a couple of others too to keep your chain going. If that makes sense.
Finally broke out of the second stage and beat the boss, and then actually had a decent run through the first part of stage 3 without ever having seen most of it before. Reclaimed third for now.
@hybridseed You know I've never even noticed those dots before. I have my hud set like this, with only the special meter on my play screen. I think going by those 3 dots would be distracting but maybe that's just because I'm used to using the combo sign as my indicator. You can tell by the sound of the explosions too.
Yep ,those at the top have super human skills. There's a video of a guy playing 2 player and controlling each ship with one hand. Crazy stuff!
Fortunately, you can get around that problem if you just make second user for your switch, which you use for such more casual (or practice) runs (including using easier difficulties if those don't have separate leaderboards in the game).
I don't know why I never thought of this. That's a brilliant idea. Will be the reverse for me since my main profile is already filled with practice score, but I can use one of my 'foreign' accounts to do real runs. Still, totally agree with @CroRock that it's really poor on the part of ZeroDiv. Not having online leaderboards, I can understand - I'm sure it's a fair bit of work and I doubt they sell all that many copies - but to have such useless local boards, there's no excuse really.
@riccyjay I think the leaderboards are just the original ones the game had. The games were made for arcades where there wouldn't have been an option to change difficulty. What I find strange though is why Psikyo seemed to make their leaderboards worse in the first place.Strikers 1945 has leaderboards for individual difficulty levels but doesn't seperate scores made with continues. Strikers 1945 II fixed that but by the time Tengai and Dragon Blaze arrived they were worse than ever, not seperating difficulty or credit runs.. There's not even an option to check the leaderboard in those games ,you only see them at the end of a run or at the end of the attract mode.
If the tracking details are right by Monday/Tuesday my Switch should be back home. These 2 weeks have been the longest... Went back playing SFV: AE on my PC, and I enjoyed every bit of it... but now I just can't wait to see if my saves are still intact. And BTW my copy of SF collection is sitting unopened on the shelf, what a pity @meppi64: would you recommend Lost Sphear? The price is really enticing, please help NOT to pull the trigger
The original fire has died and gone, but the riot inside moves on.
@RetroGamerAndrew I honestly don't know as I haven't even started Setsuna yet.
It's certainly not a big budget RPG, but for what it is, it seems like a really good games.
Switch player certainly seemed to like it a ton, and them along with Nintendo Force are two magazines that I still trust when it comes to well written, honest reviews. http://switchplayer.net/2018/02/19/lost-sphear-review/
So for that price, I don't think you can go wrong. I certainly jumped right on it when I saw it that cheap.

@RetroGamerAndrew@meppi64 I played the Lost Sphear demo and to be honest couldn't really get into it... Put a few hours into I Am Setsuna and I'm really feeling that game, has a lot of strong points for an rpg, great characters, story and battle system... very engrossing game☺
@RetroGamerAndrew By the glory of Miyamoto, let your save files be safe. As for Lost Sphear, I love JRPGs, couldn't get into Lost Sphear. I pre-ordered a physical copy and I shelved it after about 4 hours. Gameplay was fine, but the characters did nothing for me. I loved Battle Chasers so if you see that on sale I'd recommend picking that up. Or wait for Octopath Traveler for turn based or Ys VIII for an action RPG fix.
@Lroy I think I know the guy you mean,he's on my friendslist too.He has his own blog and reviews games ,so gets games to review before they're released. Spotted a few on his activity log
