Well, after multiple runs tonight, I'm finally getting into a bit of a groove. I still made some silly mistakes so I know I can easily increase this score. We'll see how the next few days go.

Just tried few runs but failed to increase and doing stupid mistakes. I wish I could get at least somewhat consistent on first 3-4 levels, but doing stupid mistakes there too.

I mentioned before that I didn't like the "rank" mechanic, but I'm changing my mind, it's actually quite brilliant way of creating depth and strategy options for this kind of game.

The twitter account I set up to post piccies here has like one follower! Erm...it's Treasure Co.ltd! Better post a kick ass Tengai score this week to show them how serious I am about Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun coming to Switch

I am pretty bad at Tengai....my high score is around 402,000. I am not great at shmups in general, even though I love the genre.

Anybody using the joycon ‘dpad’ to play this? I have an 8bitdo, and sometimes I think I like that dpad better, but it doesn’t really seem to affect my (lack of) skills.

I use the Joy-con analogue stick when playing in handheld, I find it to be pretty good for 2D games. I really struggle with the 4 button thingy unless it's a platformer, Moon Patrol or Puyo Puyo Tetris. When playing in table top or on the TV I use the 8bitdo SF-30 Pro. The D-pad is excellent.

I used the 8 bit do SNES replica joystick for an earlier challenge, maybe Metal Slug, and I found it works just fine.

I end up doing most of these challenges handheld. For some reason, I get higher scores that way than on TV mode.

@OorWullie Thanks for posting the current standings. I need to up my game considerably but not confident I'll invest the time needed to improve to that degree. Suspect some of the fellas here are gonna leave the rest of us in the dust on this one.

I am pretty stoked! I am currently #13 on the Hi Score Mode Rankings in Punch-Out!! on Switch. I know with more practice I can get into the Top 10.

That is a great score! I just started so I’m no where near that score. This game is so special to me though, one of those that always had my quarter!!! My grandpa managed an arcade when I grew up in the early 80s and this was one of my faves. I’m was delighted to see it again after all these years.

Can't remember if I've posted this photo or not, so I'll sling it up.

This is my current high-score. Can't seem to break 500k on this game. I played as AYIN but I can't say I enjoy the style of play you need to adopt to make the best use of him.

MIKO or TENGAI are my preferred characters but I'm just not improving my score with either of them. Much to my frustration, lol!

Was about to throw in the towel with this one but @Agent721 has achieved some great scores with MIKO so perhaps I'll not force myself to use AYIN after all.

Anyway, no big scores from me with this pick but still a very enjoyable game.

And BTW, you’ve seen the #1 score on Punch Out....who in the world got that?? Did Mike Tyson himself, who’s not in this version, come out of retirement in video game form?

I don’t think I’ve seen a #1 score so far higher than everyone else, as with Punch Out.

She works well for me. I tried Ayin and he’s good too, but despite the added firepower and the sword swing, he’s hard to keep alive. My highest score with him is low 400ks. He does take down the bosses fast though.

I find Miko’s heat seeking balls quite effective and I also use the bombs quite liberally. Then it’s dodge, dodge, dodge, continuously moving.

I hope one of us tops a million.
