@Lroy I think somebody just got over my score already last page. Hopefully I do improve though, there is a lot of room for that, but I don't expect to get close to top when the hard hitters start posting their scores.
Did couple of runs, first time saw level 7 actually. Got approx 712k now (I'll post screenshot if I'm even near top in the end of the challenge).
This game is really punishing... a lot to learn as each level and enemy can act a bit differently depending on the order of level and the rank you have at the moment. In the last run I saw some bosses doing some things I haven't seen before just because I was doing well... .
806k this time, killed by the final boss on the first loop I believe (it's about a bit over 100k per level on average if you are not milking anything). For a week (before this challenge when I was just occasionally playing) it felt I didn't progress at all, but I think I finally got some hang of it.
I really recommend choosing one character and sticking with it in the challenge as they are so different to play and you need to have everything in your "muscle memory" to do well.
@Spanjard Glad you could join us. Yep, with this we're using the default settings which are 3 lives and 2 continues played on Normal Difficulty level and you can use any character. Then just take a screenshot of the leaderboard once you have a high score you're happy with. It's a superb shooter but it's pretty tough going. Enjoy and good luck.
By the way, it's possible to select the stage order by pressing Y on the title screen.

The winner of this week's TENGAI high-score challenge will select the next game. PUNCH-OUT! Has as much chance as any other. Imagine its turn will come in the future.

They run weekly. The current schedule is Sat to Fri. So TENGAI ends midnight this Friday. UK time.
However, we have 'open' and ongoing Leaderboards for all the weekly challenge games we have done so far. See the link to the arcade leaderboards in @Oorwullie 's signature. You're welcome to submit a score for any of the games we've played already.
The leaderboard in this game doesn’t seem to distinguish between different difficulty settings. I just barely improved my easy play through now that I’m playing normal. I also seem to have trouble remembering what 3 letter name I use when I get a new score. It also doesn’t help that it got a timer going on

Looks like I'm playing catch-up this week. With Splatfest and PAX East this past weekend, and an aggressive work schedule at my job, it looks like I'll have the tiniest amount of time to play this week (with Friday being the biggest chunk of time). So I'll see how it goes. I did find out, at least, that I liked Katana's play style the best (as much as I was hoping Miko would be the one, heh). 370k is what I have so far, but no screenshot until I at least pass the boss rush on one credit.
