To start off
1. I have the nintendo online family membership for up to 8 nintedo switches
2. I have purchased the happy homes expansion for animal crossing new horizon (I have the physical copy of that)
3. My daughter and I share an island on the same switch but have separate accounts (which she is added to the family membership)
4. You do not have to purchase the expansion for each account as others have stated and they can play easily
5. She has done all the steps claimed be needed to get offered the job for happy homes where you meet lottie.
For some reason the expansion purchase will not show up on her account and shows it as not being purchased but she is added to my family membership. We have restarted the nintendo, we are connected to internet, had her do any and all tasks just in case, but it still won't show up for her on her account. What are we doing wrong?? It started doing this on other downloaded games on other accounts of the same switch as well stating you had to be the person who purchased it but it didnt always do that. How do I fix it where she can play happy homes expansion?? Thank you

The expansion pass only entitles you and your family to play the expansion through the life of your subscription. It does not count as purchased software.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

Have you downloaded the DLC with the account of the main player of the island? (The user that started the island)
I'm not sure really, but that may be the problem?
Do you play the game on a second console?

@Budda its a physical cartridge of animal crossing new horizon and no we don't play it on a second console only one. We have two consoles but only one physical copy of the main game.

@Silly_G I didn't purchase it through the membership expansion pack. I bought the expansion myself so we have it all the time, not only the life of the membership. And she is added to the family plan and it's on one console. We have two consoles but animal crossing new horizon and happy homes is only on one

If you start up the game on her account, do you see a little house icon next to the version number on the title screen? That shows that the DLC is installed and active.

@Lauren185817 Given that you mentioned problems also with starting up other games... couldn't it be that you setted the console you use to play AC as your secondary one for the account that purchased the DLC and the other games?

That may explain why on that console only the user that own the games can play them.

Quoting Nintendo's support center: "While using a non-primary console, downloadable content can only be started by the user that purchased the content."

@Lauren185817 I think BakaKnight's post, above, may be your answer.

If you're not making progress in here, I think you'll want to contact Nintendo Support - it's not too hard to get a person on the phone there. You can get a person faster if you say "representative" to the automated menu. And, let the inside rep know your email address when they ask for it, so they can see your account.

So I tried to play the DLC with a second user. I figured out that the user that downloaded the DLC has to be the primary console on the console where you want to play the game. If that sentence makes sense.
First I wasn't able to play the DLC. Then I switched the account that bought the DLC to primary, then it worked perfectly.

@Budda I assume I'm the primary but how would I change that?

@Lauren185817
You have to go in to the EShop on your console. Then select your profile icon on the top right corner to get to your Account Informations. Go right where you can see your Available Funds. Scroll down where it says Primary Console.
If it says 'A different console is registered as your primary console' your account on the other Switch is. To change you have to disable it on the other Switch. You can find it at the same spot. And then visit the EShop on the console that you want to be the primary console to make it primary.
Done.

@Budda AHA!! I have a switch and switch lite, the primary is on the switch! I registered on both of them but I will have to try changing the primary to the lite! I pray that works. Thank you so much!
