Has anyone just bit the bullet and restarted their island? I love my house, got the upstairs paid off. 3 bridges and 1 incline. There are 4 residents i really like, 2 I detest...the rest are just blah.
All the crafting recipes I'm getting are duplcates. I dont care for the brick lighthouse etc that go with this island. I guess I'm just feeling a bit discouraged.
@k8sMum Personally I couldn't imagine starting over after all the work I've put in. If I ever lost my save I'd probably just never play again rather than restart. Villagers can always be slowly replaced over time (or quickly with amiibo) and you could always try to trade the Miles stuff like the lighthouse you don't like with others.
I’m looking for anyone who has a ridiculously high turnip sell price in their shops currently and is willing to let their island gate be open for a while so I can sell them.
So I got bronze, silver, and gold plaques from the Happy Home Academy. Didn't do anything special, either. Just crammed my house with whatever I get my hands on that appealed to me. I don't have access to nearly enough items to even contemplate sets and themes, so I'm not sure what the criteria is for receiving the awards.
@Mountain_Man I got the silver yesterday. That’s really a bummer, though. I enjoyed completing sets and decorating to get the gold one on New Leaf. Took ages.

I decided to jump to one quick island in between doing other things but ended up on an island full of scorpion and money rocks again so I guess I'm stuck here for a while...
@JereJK Will you still be on in like 30 mins? I'm just having a quick break for a snack then I need to fill the rest of my inventory with scorpions before I can head back to my island.

I don't know if I ever did get a gold plaque in New Leaf, because what I thought looked good wasn't what the game thought looked good (that stupid otter never liked my taste in home decor!), so I'm a bit pleased that this time around, it's not as restrictive, although you'd think it would take a little effort get the rewards.
I'm weary about using that method (turnip.exchange) because it's open to abuse. I checked it out the other day, and a lot of the islands require you to drop off a fee before you are allowed in. There's nothing stopping them from booting you from their island once they've received your bells either.
I had been checking out a subreddit - r/acturnips, but I've yet to act on it. It's the same idea, but initial 'fees' are actively discouraged. You are encouraged to give a thank you gift though, but no one will be barring your way until you hand over the bells.
I spent just under 2 million bells on turnips last Sunday - the price was pretty good, and it indicated I was due to see a great return (on account of having a 'small spike' last week), but after putting my first price in the calculator, it is indicating my return isn't going to be that great. I'm going to want to keep an eye on prices myself - I'll probably need to rely on several islands because I have 209 stacks to shift! No one is going to want me to take up their whole morning going back and forth between their island.
