Topic: Alan Wake for Nintendo Switch

So, guess Alan Wake Remastered just shadow dropped on Nintendo Switch.

I bought it, but I'm at work and can't download until I get home later today.

Can anyone confirm whether the game offers gyro aiming? I doubt it does, but I'm still eager to know for sure.

I'm definitely interested, but what a terrible time to shadow drop a game like this. I'll have to wait til there's some downtime or when it goes on a sale( aside from the launch discount obviously).

Found a Spanish livestreamer who was playing Alan Wake on Switch. Asked if there was gyro aiming. Someone in comments translated and he checked. Unfortunately there is not.

But the game looks like a decent port otherwise, and as much as I'd love gyro, it's more of a suspense based game, not constant action. So I can live without it, especially if there's good aim assist.

@NintendoByNature
No doubt.

I'm in the middle of my 2nd Nier Automata playthrough (it has at least 3 different story related playthroughs), just got Persona 5 Royal and am 5 hrs into that, just got Mario Rabbids and started a save file there, and Bayonetta 3 drops next week.

Sorry for the plug guys but I need your help in asking Remedy to add gyro aiming.

Hardly any Switch fans follow their social media so nobody but me is speaking out asking for it. Need a few likes and additional comments so they know it's actually in demand

Alert alert

The game is priced incorrectly in the Mexican eShop, if you have access to it, go buy it there for the equivalent of a dollar!

Shame Switch version is terrible & it seems the 0C version is staying EGS exclusive.... I'll have to stick with original on Steam

Interestingly, it supposedly plays much better in handheld and looks decent. A very odd situation.

Check out this video.

I had written this game off but, maybe docked can be salvaged with a patch still?

Just been trying it out handheld. Cutscenes seem very clean, no issues there. Actual gameplay... a little fuzzy and blurry, a smidge clearer than something like Witcher 3, I'd say (though it's been a while since I played that). Seems to play fine though, from what I can tell - I've never played Alan Wake before though.

From the 30 minutes I've played so far, I'm not particularly impressed by the game though (regardless of the port quality). A lot of it is spent listening to v/o of Alan Wake, and the voice acting is not great.

You play through some bs nightmare scenario to begin with, as some kind of tutorial, then it's just following instructions constantly. I'll try and get into what seems like 'main game' territory, but I'm glad I only paid a quid for it so far.

I think you'll find the game has a lot more to offer if you keep playing. This is one of my brother's all time faves.

@NeonPizza
Nothing.

It's a shoddy port. Really only good for handheld only players who don't care about gyro.

I just found a Proton version that makes it run on SteamDeck, with mouse gyro (had to enable Direct Aiming in game though, otherwise it was borked). And even at 800p 40fps (with screen set to 40 Hz to match) it can get over 6 hrs battery because it's the original 360 version, not the Remastered.

I would have preferred having it on Switch, provided they got it looking and running as well as the 360 version with gyro. Ah well. Thats when the Steamdeck backup plan offers its value.

Gotta say, it's not the sort of game where I feel I am really suffering by having to aim with sticks instead of gyro. Gyro would be nice and should be expected nowadays, but it's very playable without it.

That is true. On a sliding scale it's definitely playable without it. But I still prefer it with gyro if possible.

Any idea when there will be an update/patch to fix the FPS issues? its been out long enough.

Eel

I think they’ll just leave it as is.

Must be a weird release for them, since everyone in Mexico and their mothers bought it thanks to the pricing error here, the sale numbers must be way above expectations, but the money made has to be very disappointing.

@Eel Well, that was a short lived glitch ) Its more about their good name as dvelopers. It was not well recieved port of a good game so I do assume it will get some patch work … but not sure when … and hoped someone will know more:-)
