Ok so I was a moderate fan of SFII back in the 90s (played the hell out of Turbo on my SNES). Getting 30th Anniversary Edition on my Switch was an easy decision and have already had a few mates around for some battles.

Thing is I don’t know much about SF anything beyond Turbo. I’ve been really enjoying Alpha 2 so when I selected Alpha 2 and chose Akuma I was accused of cheating as he is apparently “crazy overpowered”? Is this true as i would have thought he would have to be balanced like the rest of them?

Nope he is one of the more powerful characters but he takes more damage. That is how the game is balanced, hits harder takes more damage, speedier medium damage low attack, all rounder etc.

It also goes with Akuma's character in the story, with him tapping into the Satsui no Hado, granting him more power at the cost of his humanity and body's physical strength. Such devilish power puts a lot of strain on the body, so it makes sense he takes more damage and gets stunned easier when he gets hit.

As for gameplay reasons, in the right hands, an Akuma player could land some strong combos that deals a lot of damage, basically Akuma is best suited for an offensive playstyle, with little room for defensive one. In some games, he's one of the best fighters, which of course leads to some people thinking your "cheating" and he's “crazy overpowered” when in reality, they should learn how to counter Akuma.

I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!

I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!
