@Atr21 Can you give more detail on that? Are you talking about using an adapter and a non-standard controller?

@WoomyNNYes I'm using a non-standard controller and the 8bitdo adapter when I turn on the game I get prompted to press l and r and a and when I do that it goes to the game and then pops right back out with the same prompt

@Atr21 Oh, I see. You get that white-controller-sync page, says "press L + R" buttons to sync the controller. Then it says press "A" to continue. I've never used a usb bluetooth adapter like the 8BitDo, or PS4, Xbox One controller. Maybe someone else here can help.

Can anyone else here speak to @Atr21's issue? Maybe @Tasuki can help? I know @Tasuki has uses a PS4 controller & 8BitDo adapter with his Switch.

In case this is your issue: Regarding that white screen for sync'ing the controller, even with a Switch pro controller, on some games, I find hitting A doesn't exit that controller-sync page, I have to hit B to get back into the game. (I know, it doesn't make sense.) Maybe you're seeing a similar issue? Try hitting B (not A) after the Switch see's your controller. (B button or the corresponding button on your PS/Xbox controller)

@WoomyNNYes I'll try that and let you know of it worked or not.

Sounds more like a controller issue communication then the adapter from 8bit problem. Did you contact the manufacture of that controller as well? Could be it wasn't made for the the Switch and looses communication with the adapter and Switch causing communication loss.

I don't have a fix, but I'm experiencing the same issue using a brand new switch pro controller with no adapter.

@Doritos111 what exactly issue? No one issue is the same nor happens the same. This is about a non-Pro controller connection issue. You need to go to NIN site and follow their instruction on sync controller to see what could be the issue.
