Multiplayer games, the majority of the time, are the ones with silly achievements that most people just don't care about. Games like gears of war especially have some crazy ones.
I remember wasting s0o0o0o0o0o0o0o many days of my life trying to get some of these achievements. I've played games such as Deadrising and Sonic 06, trying to get all the achievements for those games, which I did, but then my 360 got the red ring of death, and I wasn't connected online at the time, so I lost all of my hard work : (
If the Switch has an achievement system, k00l, but if I had the choice, i'd turn them personally. On the Ps4 I hide trophies, which I like a lot and think is a SWELL feature : 3
I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!
I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!
I can confirm there will be no in system achievements at the moment but the Missions should be active for Nintendo Switch on launch date after the update. There is more info at nintendoswitchmissions.com
What is the obsession with achievements? Bragging rights? I'm not being snarky, I really don't get why guys holler for them so much.

I picked up a PS3 a couple months ago to play some missed games, which has been my first experience with achievements. I don't even know what they are until a little box pops up on the screen telling me I've done one. That can be a little annoying when I'm still trying to play, but it's not that big of a deal. I think they are a fine idea that could lengthen a game you enjoy. I feel like when I beat a game if I liked it enough to want to keep playing, I would then go see what the possible achievements are and if I want to try them. But other than that, they don't bother me at all. Plus, most of the games I've played on my Nintendo systems lately have had some kind of achievement system in them anyways, so who cares if they system itself has one, too?
I would definitely appreciate them. It really gives games more replay-ability. I'd love an excuse to go back through both Mario Galaxies, but as of right now I don't have one because I have all Stars in both. That's one example.
I couldn't give a crap less about my overall "gamerscore" or level, I just like them for each individual game.
hopefully they do bring achievements into the frame as IMO it pro-longs the game and gives you something else to aim for , basically most people will play their game more if there is achievements than they would do normally

It is an addiction. On PS4 I have 96 platinum trophies and over 11,000 trophies in total. I do not earn these to show off. I earn them because I like the added incentive to keep playing. I enjoy the extra challenges the developers throw out there. And it is a good feeling when you are able to earn all the trophies the game has to offer.
I have to say this: I will buy the Switch when it gets an Achievementsystem tied to the User, not the game. If it never happens, then I never buy the Switch. I do not mean this in a hatefull angered way, I just do not see the purpose to buy a new konsole only for 2-3 games and maybe the next Zelda in 2022(?) Reason is i would buy multiplatform Games like I am Setsuna, Minecraft, Payday 2 etc. rather on Steam, ps4 then the Switch because I feel that with an achievment system I get a little more for my money.
I see a lot of people who say " you just want dem achuvments because you need you pat on the back baby" and stuff like that or that I just want to brag etc. or, "oh you pressed A here is your achuvment, good job" jokes.
Now let me explain why I like achievements. Sure, it depents on the developer if you get achievements for stupid tasks like killing 100 enemies and so on BUT, but there are alot of great games which offer great challenges to earn achievements. For Example the Halo The Masterchief Collection gave you an achievement when you completed a Level without Jumping, a thing I would never do if it did not had them. And other fun little tasks like that.
Another great example is to extend the lentgh of a game I love, like Persona 5. I am currently in my 3rd run with 200h+ because I want to get platinum. Sure you might argue "but hey that is just artificially extending the game length" but is this wrong if I enjoy it for 200h+? I have fun and dont see it as a waste of my time, because if it did not have the achievement system, I would stop playing Persona 5 and probably bought another game anyway. Now that I think about it, you know what feels like a waste of time? Completing KH1-2 on PS2 and my memory card died and I lost those hours. That is what I call a waste of time because I have no chance to go back and see my 100% of those games.
Now, here is how I view a profile tied achievement System. I view them as my Sticker collection book. As a child I used to collect stickers, compared and traded some with my friends and as of today I still have those sticker books and like to remember them. Maybe you people who do not understand achievements or make fun of people who like and want them could start to think to yourself what you like to collect. Maybe you like to collect figurines? If so, to me that would be a waste of money because I view them as dust collectors, but to you it could mean alot, maybe because you went through a hassle to get that figurine you wanted and you like to put them on your shelf and just look at them once in a while? You see a connection here? What you like to collect could be a waste of time and money to me and the other way around. But would I make fun of you and say "aww look at you baby and you little babytoys"? No, I would not. I would let you the joy of collecting what you like instead of trying to take it away from you. I do not understand why alot of people on the internet try so forcefull to stop others from getting a feature others enjoy and do now harm to themselves.
Achievements do not add content to the game you just don't get a trophy pop for doing the same things.
Example if BOTW was a PS4 exclusive you would get a trophy for completing your first side quest and another one when you complete them all
yippie whippie
You still get to play all the side quests in the game
Now some games have achievements that make you try things you might not try without the trophy like (get 5 headshots in 10 seconds) but that's not adding content
@ValhallaOutcast Achievements do not add content to the game but content to your gamer profile...
With BotW you gave a prime example why nintendo and why BotW need a proper achievement system. You collected all 900 Korok seeds? No? Well I did and guess what I got jacksh*t as a reward, LITTERALY. You get a key Item wich is poop! No joke. Well guess what now I have a useless key Item, shaped like poop and the hunt for the koroks was pretty much useless in the end. Would I get a achievement for that I had atleast something new in my achievements.. or a Platinum Trophy and my psn lvl would have increased.
As I sad, no achievements on switch?- No console for me.
