Topic: 64gb microSD not working on Nintendo Switch

I ran out of space on my switch so I bought a SanDisk 64gb microSD to add more, however when I put it in the console does not recognise the card. On data management in settings it just says no microSD inserted. Does anyone know how to get it working? I've followed Nintendo support on how to put it in but it still isn't working. Help would be much appreciated, thank you

If you did exactly what Nintendo instructed and the card still doesn't work, then it's either a bad card or a bad card reader. Try returning & exchanging it at the store?

@Zozo_is_me I'm wondering if your micro sd card needs formatting (FYI: formating erases cards). Below is a page with links to Nintendo Support directions for common setup questions.

  • micro sd FAQ,
  • how to format micro sd card
  • how to transfer user and save data

Nintendo's support line is good too.

Get a MicroSD reader and try to read it on a computer. That will be the test if the card works or is faulty. Also nowdays the sd cards are less then before and you should get at least 200gb or 128gb to start. If faulty return and get another or refund. Also if that is the first card your using it will format to fit the Switch when inserted.
