Topic: Your biggest hopes and wildest predictions for the Switch 2 era?!?

Now that the Switch 2 has launched and is in our hands , what are some of your hopes and predictions for this Switch 2 generation?? Is it a new F-Zero? Kid Icarus? New peripherals like the long rumored Vitality Sensor? Ring Fit 2? Will it outsell the Switch 1? How long before we get a Switch 2 Lite/OLED? Is the Switch 2 powerful enough for future proofing ?

I'm copying something I wrote in the "Wild and Wacky Gaming Wishes" thread:

"A Shield Hero turn-based JRPG with graphics, voice acting and music like the anime and the ability to walk around in combat like Dragon Quest 11. I think Sega or Bandai Namco could do it, considering they make and publish other anime games. Make it come out on both Switch 1 and Switch 2, as well as Playstation and Xbox. The Switch version costs $60 and Switch 2 version costs $70, Switch 1 version can be upgraded to Switch 2 version through $10 upgrade pack. Switch 2 version preferably not a Game Key Card. If the entire game, including any potential dlc, is on the cartridge except maybe a bug fix patch or two I would buy it physically."

It would also be lovely if they stopped canceling and censoring Japanese games as well. A man can dream...

Biggest hope: Mario Maker 3

Wildest Prediction: an enormous epic sequel to game builder garage more like Sony's Dreams.

Yes I think Switch 2 is powerful enough for future proofing just like the original Switch was. If you sell amazing games for a console then people will buy the console. It doesn't matter if the Switch 2 isn't competitive with other consoles either in performance or software pricing as most Switch 2 software that sells well will be exclusive software or software I guess that is ideal for portability. Already its been reported that third party software i.e. mostly multi-platform has sold badly on Switch 2 but really who cares about that apart from the publishers and developers of those games. Even when Nintendo sold a console that was competitive with other consoles the Gamecube, multiplaform releases were still often a lot better on the original xbox which was a lot more powerful with more features but the Gamecube did deliver many multiplatform games better than Playstation 2.

We all know the Switch 2 will get a mid-gen refresh with far superior battery life and likely a OLED screen. I suspect that will launch at the same current price as Switch 2 and the original Switch 2 model will get a healthy price cut but we shall seem but of course that is probably at least 2 years away.

A new, Wholly original Star Fox game

Light gun sensor and peripherals. All the classics and new games released. Packaged with sequel to Links Crossbow training.

Heck YES! I'm actually considering getting back to Mario Maker 2 a short time after finishing Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, which should be soon since I only have the final boss left. It's been over two years since I really actually played Mario Maker 2, and I've been itching to actually make some levels, though a lot of mine aren't the highest quality out there 🤣. I'll announce my return to Mario Maker 2 on the Mario Maker 2 levels thread later.

I love Bananza, but I really, really want another DKC game during this generation. I doubt it happens, but it'd be awesome.

A new Donkey Konga. There's been like 3 different guitar peripherals made since Fortnite Festival released back in December 2023 (the guitars can be used for other games like Rock Band 4 but Fortnite Festival was the driving push for the guitars being made) so it would be cool if Nintendo brought back the DK bongos for Donkey Konga.

-a new take on animal crossing
-a worthy 3d zelda title at the end of the lifespan
-ability to transfer photos from a smartphone to switch for backgrounds (im getting far fetched here 😔)
-mother 3 on switch online (💔💔💔)
-a xenoblade warriors.
-i also think a game with all of Nintendo’s franchises meeting each other thats NOT smash would be really cool yet unlikely. nintendo kart? super nintendo sports? nintendo dance?

Mario Multiverse RPG

My four biggest hopes:
1: Mario Galaxy 3!!!!!!!
2: Remasters of Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2.
3: Remaster/remake of Wind Waker.
4: An Ocarina of Time remake, where they really push the Switch 2 to it's graphical limit but stay true to the essence of the game.

I don't think this is my biggest hope, or even the wildest prediction, but I thought we'd get new Daigasso soon after Switch launch. I had no grounds for it but I was still expecting to see it in one of the early Switch Directs. That obviously never happened so now I'm doubling down.

If I'm being honest, I don't think it's going to happen any time soon, especially with new Rhythm Heaven on the horizon.

Honestly? I'm really keen that this new era of 'Switch 2' works hard to avoid the endless wave of remakes/remasters, and instead looks to reignite dormant IPs that have been laid aside for far too long.... the likes of Starfox, FZero etc

There is so much potential to bring back Starfox with a 'bang', and so many genres this game could encompass. Something like a cross between a mission-based shoot-em-up, similar to Armored Core, alongside base building and ship spec'ing would be so great.

DLSS4 and upgraded CPU that overpower PS5 pro or PS6 Pro...............

The comeback of dormant Nintendo franchises, specifically Kid Icarus

New port of some of the weird DS RTSes like Revenant Wings? with mouse mode integration

The new $25,000 Switch Mega

So heavy that you can roast some prime ribs on the heat sink output.
