Are you a day-one buyer? Paying for upgraded version of games we already bought doesn't help. But I think the exclusives look great. I suppose we have two days worth of Treehouse events to see more game coverage.

Charging for performance bump is bad in my book. Some outdated online ideas/features. 3rd party games that are old now that won’t release for months. Pack-in software that’s not pack-in because they gotta charge. Too much dough for one video game ($80). Just some criticisms..
@NinChocolate
I think you're being a bit sensationalist. There were a bunch of AAA third-party games announced that will launch new and/or exclusive for Switch 2. And the hardware does seem pretty powerful. 4k at 60fps for current-ish games is not as easy as people think.
@NinChocolate
lol it doesn't really matter who is or isn't "fine" with it, I'm just correcting you on your facts. There were at least 2 AAA third-party games that are launching on Switch 2, one of which is exclusive: Borderlands 4 and the Bloodborne game.
Multiple news sites online reporting the price moments after the Direct ended.
I can't be bothered to link them though.

$699AU apparently. So $50 more than the 250GB Steam Deck, $200 less than the OLED. Honestly for the specs, including 120Hz HDR screen, that's a reasonable price. Because it certainly looked like it could (and from what we know it should) match or exceed Steam Deck performance wise
Is there a killer app there for me on day 1? Eh, maybe. Not sure I need it immediately at that price given I have a Steam Deck already. But there's certainly enough by the end of the year to get me over the line I think. DK is big, and looked pretty solid and I'm not opposed to more Hyrule Warriors especially if the performance is there this time. Will have to sit back and reassess the launch line-up and whether I'm there early once the dust has settled a bit

@NinChocolate It seems that MK is the only one that's $80. DK Bananza is $70 (which is still a yikes to me tbh but then again most games these days are of that price). No idea why mario kart gets the special treatment
I'm on the fence whether to go for it day one. The console price is a bit steep but acceptable I think, but the game prices are mental. Mario Kart World is £66.99 digital or £74.99(!) physical, and Donkey Kong is £58.99 digital or £66.99 physical. Of course knowing Nintendo they might never get cheaper, but it might be worth waiting for better deals (and better console colours) in the future? Got to balance FOMO against common sense and frugality really, but I'm not confident FOMO won't win.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Switch Online
@Breeze23 because (practically) every owner will buy MKW and it’s a nice way (for them) to offset costs from the hardware at $450. It’s basically some accounting that Nintendo did to balance overall costs using a game that’s guaranteed to sell a certain amount for them
@NinChocolate
You’re just cherry picking and it’s stupid. Yea, there were third-party games shown that are “old,” as you say, but I’m pointing out the fact that there are also plenty that are new and/or exclusive.
@GeneralFulbright
Correction. The OLED and later models of the Switch had a longer battery life than the Switch 2 does but the OG Switch had the same rated battery life. And speaking for myself, I think I could probably count on one hand the number of times I ran out of battery on my original Switch. And that was before portable battery packs became incredibly cheap
And, frankly, the screen is almost surely going to outclass the screen on the Switch OLED. It's a VRR, 120Hz, 1080p, HDR capable panel. It's not going to have the contrast ratio of the OLED sure but it's an LCD with HDR support so it'll almost surely get brighter with a wider dynamic range and in every other aspect it's going to run rings around it
So yeah, quality screen, high resolution output and a fairly solid transition strategy? Honestly, other than the price of the games which I can't complain too much about because I have a vested interest in software being worth money..... for me it's a big yes

Who was expecting a better battery life out a Switch 2?
Especially considering the Switch 2 is using an 8nm SoC instead of a more power efficient 5nm?
