EDIT: A marketing photo answers why there's the gap & soft pad. The gap & pad are for shock absorption so the shoulder buttons don't get damaged in a drop. So, marketing says.
Tomtoc's switch 1 case was just right, no unnecessary bulk. But for the switch 2, Tomtoc's case almost looks like they made this case based on the wrong dimensions and shoved a pad in there as a fix to salvage production. The pad does it's job & keeps the console snug, but this just looks odd in comparison to the switch 1 case. This may be a dumb nitpick. I get it. I'm just slightly disappointed, it's seems like tomtoc may have flubbed it a bit dimension-wise.
Did anyone else notice?
If anyone bought a Tomtoc case for switch 2 before they got the console, and thought, "wow, this case is bigger than I expected. Is the switch 2 this big?". It kinda isn't.π But I don't think it warrants returning the case. But I am confused, because for the switch, it was just right, no unnecessary bulk, and seemed like an easy formula to reproduce for switch 2. Is there maybe a reason for the extra width I'm not aware of?
Hiya @Eel!
Switch shoulder buttons aren't really different than switch 2's, I don't think, and that pad blocks the vents on the top, which is the opposite of helping it coolπ. I'll look at the buttons again later to see if there's anything to your point though.
