Basically the console randomly stopped sending to my tv last night. This happened before and I reset everything which fixed it but this time it isn't fixing.

I've tried the reddit guidance to fix this issue. Basically I unplugged every cable, turned off my console for 30 minutes, tried different cables and hdmi ports (ones I know work for Switch 1). And no help.

Does anyone else know of any solutions? Nintendo said they could replace it for free but that I would lose my Switch 2 for 3 weeks and that I might lose some save data and profile data.

Edit: After a couple hours off it magically started working again with no other change.

This time was significantly worse, but the fact that this has happened several times makes me worry that it might be an actual hardware problem which will get worse.

I am starting to get Dock ethernet connection issue as I mentioned and that could be related to the Dock and their TV Dock out might be having board issue cause this as well. Mine started about 1 week ago and did unplug everything and plugged back and worked but that didn't last long. So short story I am doing Warranty return to get another Switch2 but lucky I had two Switch2 so transferred my data to the second one and will transfer it back when I get the replacement. But not before I put Screen-Protector first.

They wanted me to send the Dock in but wouldn't confirm if the just replace the board or give me a new Dock. So at this point I am going to go back to where I bought it and do Warranty replacement so that the new replacement it will it's own Warranty. This just stinks if you only have one Switch2 unless you can transfer that data back to the Switch1 and then transfer them back to the replacement Switch2. I am now suspecting some of the Switch2 model had bad Dock boards and started to fail when trying to connect to the Switch2 that come with it. I did your steps you did but even then when I Docked it failed to see the Ethernet.

@sethfranum I'm not usually this much of an early adopter for consoles. I guess this is the negative side...

Well, this has made me think to wait until they put out the revision in about a year or 2.

@Tasuki I suspect this will be something which is fixed in later units long before an official revision. Since it's only affecting a small ish portion currently.

@FishyS I just hope my second Switch2 Dock doesn't exhibit this problem as 1Switch2 worked fine in 2Switch2 Dock.

Ok, swapped the Switch2 and reset all my stuff and moved the save data back to Switch2 replacement. I can now see the ethernet and pro controller connects after going through the setup. Since it was past 30 days and no warranty since before I never had to. I had to pay used game frees to get a new Bundle version. I hope this time it's working without issue.

My dock stopped working again. It always happens after it has not moved at all over night and worked the night before. It's been a few hours and it won't recharge or go into tv mode so it may not be fixing itself this time.

@FishyS Sounds like what mine did as well. If you don't have a warranty setup then your choices are to return and pay for replacement or send the Dock into Nintendo. Since mine was past 30days I swapped and paid $$ to get a New Switch2 of which the Dock works.

I just got a Nintendo Switch 2 and the dock is flaky. When I first tried to use it, it did not work. Then it worked for a while. Now, it's not working. I used multiple HDMI cables, and even put it directly into a monitor, no output. (It is usually in a system with an HDMI switch to a sound bar then to a projector, but putting the HDMI directly into a monitor bypasses all of that.)

What are my options? Take it back? It's within 30 days. Or contact Nintendo and send the dock back?

@ctviggen Have you tried different power strips? It's very finicky about power.

That said, there are a lot of things which apparently can mess up with the dock. If testing the power doesn't work, taking the unit back to the store might be easiest if your store lets you. Otherwise, Nintendo.com support has a lot of help pages about this so it's apparently a common issue. If you talk to them they'll tell you to send at least the dock in for repairs.

Thanks, FishyS. Interesting. I had used two different power strips, and neither worked. But I ran the power using a heavy duty extension cord to the transformer (no power strip) for the Switch 2...and it worked! Now, I had turned it off for a while before now, so I'll keep testing. Thanks for the tip.

@ctviggen If in 30 days or what policies they have take back and get another one. That is manufacture fault and you should replace it.

These sort of faults are common on early production. Typically they work out what is happening and what causes it, report back to the manufacturer, Foxconn or whoever with a component change or design fix and they implement it as soon as possible. A turnaround maybe 3 months but with Switch 2's selling well there probably isn't much overstock at retail so it could be quicker but often stock is weeks on the water before it gets to the country it will be sold at. I would guess there isn't much stock at wholesalers/importers warehouses either and of course this fault may only effect 5% of actual Switch 2s anyway.

My point is these sort of faults are normally fixed fairly quickly in just a few months. By Black Friday or Christmas at least it will be a much improved model with regard reliability. Maybe Innolux will improve the panel a bit too with later batches, wishful thinking perhaps.

I'm sure Nintendo would have noticed the huge disappointment many have for the LCD panel. Maybe a few tweaks are coming. It's not a 400 nit panel or more its measured well below that and that is with a blue tint to the screen that gives it a false high nit rating. So not a HDR panel in fact Switch Lite is brighter. So I'm hoping they can improve it a bit maybe get up to 400 nits and lose the blue tint so its actually basic HDR at least. Nintendo are falsely advertising the panel specification so perhaps we will see an actual improvement to make their marketing claims true within a few months. Maybe Innolux just couldn't achieve the claimed spec that they told and sold to Nintendo with early batches and are looking to meet that spec as soon as possible. I can't remember Nintendo giving out a false specification before so feels like they took the spec from Innolux themselves who are struggling to meet that spec so far. I just can't see them happily selling this panel for the next few years until OLED comes along. That is years of false advertising.

I used it last night, and it worked fine. I had one glitch. I have a simple system with an HDMI switcher. The switcher will only switch to an input if it senses a signal. It would switch to Kodi or Amazon Fire TV, but not to the Switch. I had to pick up the switch and put it back into the dock, then I got a signal to switch to.

How do you wake up the Switch when it's in the dock?

Detached joycons is the normal way with the home button. Unless I'm misunderstanding your question.

Thanks, I tried hitting the home button on a "pro" controller, and that did wake up the system.

The HDMI switcher requires some type of HDMI signal before it will switch to an input. I think the Switch doesn't produce an HDMI signal until it's woken up. I've told the family to hit the home button on a controller before starting up the system. We use a remote control to turn on the projector, turn on the sound bar, switch the HDMI switcher to the proper input, etc.
