Here is why Nintendo switch 2 needs Internet browse because Nintendo Switch 2 has Mouse control ans it could advantage Mouse control And Nintendo switch 2 would be the perfect Console for a web browse because if every app on Nintendo switch uses A web browser why Not have a Web browser

I think an accessible web browser on Switch 1 / 2 would be awesome! Key word is accessible, since Switch 1 / 2's eShop is browser-based if I recall correctly, and one time when I connected my Switch to the internet at a Mariott hotel, it took me to the Mariott website on the console.

I think it would be especially cool if we could take screenshots on the web browser and use those screenshots as custom home menu themes, kind of like what the PS4 can do. One nitpick I do have about Switch 1 / 2 is the lack of home menu customization.

I really can't see it happening. It's the sort of app that could lead to exploits and hacking the Switch 2. If you want a browser on Switch you need to have a modded system and then run either a Linux or Android browser.

In the modern day and age where most people, even a lot of children, have a personal phone, tablet, or other web browsing device, I don't see why Switch 2 would at all need a web browser. Also, typing with a mouse or joystick isn't intuitive or enjoyable, so it wouldn't be practical at all. In sum, no, Switch 2 does not need a web browser, as it would be highly tedious to use when better alternatives are within arms reach.

"well it appears I am upside down. what ever will I do?"

Both the 3DS and Wii U were hacked via vulnerabilities in their web browsers, so you can see why Nintendo might not be so keen for that to happen a third time.

The Switch and Switch 2 still have a web browser of sorts, as can be evidenced by things like the pop-up you get if you need to log on to a wireless network. They're just not going to expose enough of it to render an arbitrary page, for the above reason.

On top of what everyone has already said. . . ultimately? Nintendo views themselves as selling a game console, not a computer. From their perspective, a web browser is at best a gimmick of no great importance, which means even a little downside is enough for them to go "nope".

Someone asks for this every few months on these forums.

Fundamentally, having a web browser adds both security and liability issues and would require updates not easily in-sync with Nintendo's current update tempo. And as others have said, it's just not important for most people since most Switch owners have access to a phone, tablet, or PC.

Switch 2 might eventually have a couple walled-off apps like YouTube, but for the most part Nintendo decided last gen that their devices should be gaming-only and I don't see them changing that for Switch 2.

I just love single use case devices! Dedicated music players, e-readers (and actual books), movie players and of course Nintendo consoles.

It really helps one get into (and actually to) the one thing one intends to do – listen to music, play a game, read a book – without having to move past all those things that might distract one from actually getting there.

On the other hand I sometimes loathe my smartphone and the whole attention (distraction) economy of social media and the web as a whole.

So a hard pass from me! Nintendo should keep web browsers and also YouTube off the Switch.

This thread is becoming a tradition, though, which is kind of fun lol

It needs a seperate optional VR headset Accessory that mimicks the Steam Frame, using a wireless 6GHZ Dongle connected to NS2 via USB-C. It would actually be less expensive than the steam frame too since there wouldn't be any wireless stand alone tech-junk inside, which would also probably get the headset even smaller & lighter.

2160x2160 per eye, with pancake Lenses & an RGB LCD sounds good to me for now until Micro-OLED eventually becomes more affordable over time. The NS2 is like what, a PS4 Pro+ when docked? So it will be more capable compared to what's inside a stand alone Quest 3, along with Eye Tracking + Dynamic Foveated Rendering which allows for for better performance and resolution.

I'd kill to play Kirby Air Riders, Mario Kart World & DK Bananza in '3rd' person VR, and Metroid Prime 4 in first person VR. Everybody wins, including Handheld lovers, TV critters, and the VR goober heads. We get the best of all worlds, ala > Super Hybrid. VR truly feels like a spiritual successor to the Wii & 3DS. Problem is, it's a 99% indie budget cess pool, and there's still a few friction points or barriers that can get in the way for a lot of people. like headsets still being headsets, the weight(Even though Steam Frame is 75 grams less than Quest 3), and potential motion sickness.

People have smartphone and tablets and computers/laptop that can already do browsers. Switch2 is a gaming console why should Nintendo introduce a browser that can inject backdoor malware or "HomeBrew"???

I don't know, I enjoyed the browser on the Wii U.

I'd have something playing in the background on the tv, be casually playing a game with off-screen play, and would occasionally fire up the browser if I wanted to check something real quick. Handy such as if I was wondering about a star coin location in 3D World (didn't even have to exit the game) or perhaps I was wondering where else I had seen an actor in whatever television episode I had happened to be half watching at the time.

I don't need it, especially now that it's not the novelty it once was in today's world of smartphones, tablets, and the like (I had none of that back in 2012, so it was rather neat and a huge step over the useless PSP browser). But it still would be a handy extra feature here and there instead of swapping devices just to take a quick glance at something on the internet before returning to a game.

As a full time browser or regular feature that I'm utilizing though, I don't see taking advantage of it frequently. Nor do I have any interest in using a mouse with a potential Switch 2 browser. But I'm not at all against added functionality that could come in handy once in a while (or perhaps go ignored entirely like all those MP3's that I tossed on my SD card of my 3DS).
