Hey everyone, I just got my Switch 2, and I'm rather frustrated. My TV supports HDR But the Switch 2 says it doesn't. Is anyone else having this issue? What other bugs are you experiencing? I know that my TV settings are all in order.

Same issue here. It only recognizes the HDR on 1440p mode. Other devices do 120hz 4k HDR with no issues.

This might sound silly but what HDMI cable did you use? The one in the box? If not it could well be the HDMI cable. Also some TVs don't have full bandwidth on all ports so maybe check your TV manual or a site like rtings to see if that might be an issue. But yeah, HDMI cables, a lot of the ones you might have laying around just straight up won't support the higher bitrates

Not that you need to get those gold-plated super-duper cables or anything. I assume the one in the box will be good. But it's kinda surprising how many cables just don't meet that spec. And I assume a lot of people are going to run into this if they just straight cable swap their Switch and Switch 2 docks

Not a bug, but I'm just confused I have my Switch 2 sitting in the dock but I can't turn it off pressing and holding the power button does nothing am I pressing the right button?
Please can someone help me with this I am assuming it's something I am doing wrong but I've no idea what, all I can do is put the console into sleep mode and I don't want to leave it like that.

@dr_jei It won't even let me select 1440p haha. 4k or 1080 only
@skywake The one that came in the box. I also tried my Xbox Series X HDMI cord in all four slots to no avail.

@Dhaladog You have to hold down the power button for 3 seconds in handheld mode

I’ve come across three minor issues with the Switch 2 so far.

Firstly, the release button on the left joycon seems to be a bit more loose than the right joycon. The right joycon is stuck in place until you press it down like normal, whereas the left one can move down slightly before getting stuck in place. It’s a little distracting since i’ve noticed my fingers resting near the release buttons when in handheld.

Secondly, if you disconnect the right joycon and reattach it quickly, it seems to connect, but not register any button inputs. This also applies if you sleep and wake the system quickly

Finally, I put my Switch 2 aside for only a few minutes earlier, and went to turn it on and released it was completely powered off. Not dead, just powered off for some reason. I had to hold the power button for at-least 30 seconds before it would boot again. Not sure what caused this (no games were even open), but it was strange.

Also, has anyone else noticed the Switch 2 is a little wobbly in the dock? I’m assuming this is intentional, but it felt kind of strange to me.

Docked only: When HDR is turned on the bottom
10% or so of the picture is wonky. I assume it’s something with the setup or tv. I do run everything through an AV receiver. Hoping it’s not the actual console….

HDR Issue resolved: On Roku TV, Make sure that under input settings, the standard is selected and not auto. The TV will think it is a standard Nintendo Switch if it is on auto.

Anyone else getting delayed sound when using headphones connected to a Switch 2 Pro controller?

I've used two different headphones, same results.

@skywake I still remember Best Buy ripping off my grandfather on $50 HDMI Cords when they installed his TV

From what I've read it won't allow 1440p as a selectable option if you have a 4K display. It only allows 4K with the allow 120Hz checked. But if you go into a game that does 1440p output it will output 1440p

Presumably this is so you don't lock yourself into 1440p in titles that do 4K output or force 1080p scaling to 1440p then to 4K. Which is fair enough, even if not we'll explained

Interesting to read the issues - I’ve fortunately not encountered any problems.

I'm a little frustrated that I had to load a Virtual Game Card to play Mario Kart World. For some reason, the system prompted my to pair my Switch 1, and now I've got more than 200 games and save files accessible, which is a mess I didn't ask for. Why should I need a Virtual Game Card to play a Switch 2 exclusive I downloaded to the console?

As already mentioned it doesn't matter how long I hold down the power button.. nothing, it just stays on all I can do is go into sleep mode.

Virtual game cards are just how downloaded games work now. So asking why you need one is the same as asking why you need to download the file. It's really just a designation that the game you downloaded is assigned to the console you are currently using and that you haven't lent it to anyone.

But yeah, the fact that it automatically adds all your old games is kind of an annoyance. You can remove them all though.

Fishy, you'd be my hero if you could explain how to do this. I checked a couple of online explanations Nintendo provided, but they didn't work. One was for if you want to substitute a different linked console, and the other asked you to use an online function that doesn't seem to be available.

@Burning_Spear Go to your Switch 1 and go into the virtual game cards icon at the bottom of the screen. It should show all your games. Press 'quick load' (the x button) and you can select games to be designated to Switch 1 rather than Switch 2. You can only do it for 30 games at a time but it is relatively quick. After you have loaded the virtual game cards on Switch 1, the icons still exist on Switch 2 but you can no longer play the games on Switch 2.

Now go to Switch 2. If you want to remove the icons, I'm afraid you'll have to delete them one by one by '+ button, manage software, delete software' for each game. Not slow, but will be a bit annoying of you have to do it for 200 games. Or, if you don't mind the icons but don't want the games taking up space, you can quickly archive them all in the system settings/data management/quick archive menu.
