@Grumblevolcano That is possible, since they did that with OLED (and probably Lite but I don't remember), but I feel like they'd want this to be more hyped up. Who knows, a shadow drop announcement would actually be pretty hype though. I think today would be the last chance of that happening, they don't make that many announcements on Fridays/weekends
That one leak for the Switch 2 unit was apparently fake. A friend said they heard it was made by a person who makes well-known fake leaks.
This isn't entirely accurate as I understand it. The PCB appears to be legit but a few revisions old and almost surely illegally obtained. The person who leaked all this is in China and there are theories about them but safe to say they live right in the middle of where all of this stuff is being put together. Which brings us to the shells
The shells appear to be made with fairly high end equipment. Probably not hobbyist tier. As I understand it the shells themselves appear to have the mechanism correct but some of the specifics are off. The going theory is that the person who made this probably works at an accessories manufacture. On their profile they were following and were followed by one in particular. The going theory is that they're an employee of this company and so had access to information about how the JoyCon connect, the size of the device etc. For accessory manufacture
It seems very likely that the JoyCon they leaked are not the official JoyCon designs but rather are their designs. But their designs built to work with the mechanism and size of the main unit. A main unit that they were able to mock up fairly well given the acquisition of that questionably obtained PCB
Lastly the leaked specs, these are the same as the specs that had already been confirmed independently. They could be legitimately obtained but they could also just be copy/pasted from the existing known list. Hard to say but.... I see no reason to not believe them. There was a LOT of evidence to support those details, even before this latest saga
@dew12333 I feel if they reveal Switch 2 now, their bullying of indie developers via patent laws is going to vastly outshadow it. I'd brace for them postponing any reveals. No idea what their PR department is thinking but surely they don't want to be liked.
Please get out of that false narrative that Pocketpair is using. Nintendo bullying indie devs?! You’re straight up choosing to ignore the fact that Nintendo is the one of the big three that supports most indie companies. To the point that they do an indie showcase
Not to mention how Nintendo supports many different indie monster collecting games. Monster Crown, Coromon, Nexomon, and Casette Beasts.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@RygelXVIII Oh, so they also sued Level 5 for Yokai Watch? Back when it was selling just as well as Pokemon in Japan? Prompting TPCi to shape gen 7 to be more like the series in attempts to garner the same appeal?
I know Level 5 isn’t an indie company, but saying that Nintendo is just trying to crush Pocketpair because they made a successful monster collector is disingenuous. It ignores the fact that there have been incredibly successful series outside of Pokemon, and ignores that Nintendo actively supports other indie devs.

Apparently Pyoro returned. his account is still private but he seems to be saying something weird. For some reason earlier today he said 'rah' and then 'pih' which doesn't seem to mean anything in context. Some people think this is an acronym.
@RygelXVIII I’ve looked at the patent, but I don’t think that this is going to be used on everyone. It can’t be, given many 3D monster collecting games have existed before mainline Pokemon went 3D. My thinking is this whole patent is specific to how Pokeballs work in Pokemon, which Palworld pretty much infringes upon.

Seems like the account isn't private anymore, is Pyoro actually returning?
@VoidofLight Pyoro was definitely a real leaker, but was too worried about reputation during the June 2024 Direct (where Nintendo seemingly avoided initially putting their games from the Direct on eShop) and started saying things from not-so-reliable sources. After Pyoro...erm...spilled the beans on who his source was, I don't know if anyone would want to provide Pyoro with more information.
@PikminMarioKirby yeah, that’s why I said he’s no longer credible and has sorta been outed as such. Don’t get why people would be excited about his return when it’s probably being done for clout (like midori before him and samushunter before Midori).
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
I'm sure lots of would-be sources reached out to Pyoro during their popularity, but considering the only reliable one has been closed off, Pyoro would have to actually leak something new and accurate to rebuild any credence.
3pm UK time has passed with no announcements. Looks like all that's left for September on the Nintendo side of things is a NSO Expansion Pack announcement (probably another Rare N64 game) and the Echoes of Wisdom cycle (reviews, launch trailer, the game releasing).
@Grumblevolcano When do you think we'll get the Switch Successor announcement? September doesn't seem very likely at this point, so I'm guessing October 8-10.
I feel like if the next console was Holiday 2025 we would have a September Direct to fill in the first half of next year. So if we really are seeing a H1 release of Switch 2 then we'd likely be hearing it before this year ends. Week of October 7th seems to be the perfect slot for that in my opinion (the week after that is Mario Party, and November/December may be too close to Holiday season to announce that)
Why do I feel like Pyoro’s possible return is just to get more clout? I feel like the person is seeing how big Switch 2 “leaks” are at the moment and is looking or an opportunity to get more attention by coming back and possibly “leaking” something on it, but I wonder how Pyoro is going to do that given that the person’s source was busted and a few people really don’t believe in Pyoro anymore after what happened in June. Also, it’s kind of annoying when these “leaker” accounts tweet random nonsense to get people to look into and decipher a random set of words or emojis to get them hyped for something when it could just be that Pyoro has nothing to share.
@Grumblevolcano Has Nintendo released N64 games the same month as SNES games? I do feel like the SNES game drop they did a few days ago kind of reduces the chances of an N64 game releasing this month.
“Woah-shi! It’s a double Yoshi explo-shi!” - Yoshi’s Woolly World ad, 2015
If you’re curious, the character in my PFP is Flaky from Happy Tree Friends.
@Pastellioli More likely Pyoro is either a casualty of...or evading the Nintendo legal ninjas, to the best of their ability. Their "source" at Nintendo likely blacklisted in the Japanese business world after Pyoro let it slip a few months ago.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,540 games (as of January 28th, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
@Magician That all is pretty plausible. It does look and kinda feel like that Pyoro is kind of trying to get back into leaking somehow while trying to also be careful to not get in trouble again. Those random words the person posted could kind of mean anything (I’ve seen some people on another forum attempting to decipher it) but I think it could also just be random nonsense that has no true meaning at all.
@Pastellioli Almost every month of its existence there's been something for NSO Expansion Pack (N64, Mega Drive, GBA) meanwhile base NSO (NES, SNES, GB/GBC) became less frequent since the Expansion Pack became a thing.
@PikminMarioKirby Don't know, it all seems weird. We know from the Trails remake that the Partner Showcase (or a general Direct containing the Partner Showcase content) was planned for September but got moved to an August Partner Showcase for some reason. So if it's not soon then what was the point in moving the Partner Showcase?
My thoughts are:
Week beginning September 23rd - Feels very unlikely as it would overshadow Zelda. But if Nintendo were to do it then it would be September 24th because there's supposedly a State of Play that day. Nintendo seems rather pointed towards Sony recently, maybe Square Enix's new multiplatform strategy (which Square Enix seems to be blaming Sony for despite the real problem being Square Enix's sales expectations) got something like Super Mario RPG 2 cancelled?
Week beginning September 30th - Feels unlikely as too close to Zelda but Nintendo Museum opens October 2nd so if there's Switch 2 stuff in the museum, an announcement would have to occur on October 1st.
Week beginning October 7th - I agree that it's the most likely of the bunch if still announced this year. After that you have Jamboree, Brothership and the general holiday shopping season.
