@Novamii I think you have hit the nail on the head Nova. You have to handicap all the voices bemoaning remasters because (hopefully) they have already played them and it's easy for them to think the market is one demographic...them. The same voices constantly ask 'Who keeps buying Mario Kart?' lol. The fact is, since the Switch launched, there are millions of new gamers. Gamers who haven't played a Gamecube or Wii (I would say Wii U but that's everybody hahaha!) Gamers who probably regard sub HD as 'old' (or retro if they are a hipster!) pretty much like how I used to moan at my dad watching black and white films lol. I get gamers want new games, but at the same time, I think Nintendo gets taken for granted how creative they are. 'I want a new <insert franchise here>' is actually meaningless outside of indirectly saying how much you like the franchise. Because there is no idea attached to it. And I certainly hope these fans don't want Nintendo to turn into a Western AAA company churning out the same games year after year. Nintendo don't forget franchises. Otherwise we wouldn't have NSO etc. But they create games based on ideas not franchises. When they have a cool idea, they discuss which franchise it would suit. Say in the case of racing games, an idea might suit F-Zero but it could take Mario Kart somewhere different. It's not rocket science to figure which would have the most impact. But I would venture that franchises often thought of forgotten, do get mentioned in that conversation. Anyhoo, better have a coffee before I start ranting...

Brace yourself when Nintendo Direct will be aired during this week.
Anyway, I don't have expectations about the games that will be announced.
If I see Mario stuffs revealed, I will show 10% energy.
If other Nintendo IP that I have no interest with them like Zelda / Metroid / smash bros / fire emblem, I will be cactus and silent.
If I see interesting 3rd party kids games also have PS5 version, I will give 100% energy and consider them on PS5 version instead.
If I see ARMS 2, I will lost my mind and scream aloud.
If I don't get quite a lot of upcoming Switch games from the Direct, well... I can continue playing my PS5 games.

What am I dreaming of? lol

@skywake
I see what you're saying more clearly, but here's what I think:
Still no on the second remasters, at least for now. At most for this Direct they'll bring WW HD and TP HD to the Switch. As per your logic, Nintendo knows both of those games will easily be million+ sellers even if they are just the Wii U remasters slapped onto the Switch.

Maybe down the line, years from now, TP will get another pass. Personally, I think they're done with it. Both games will eventually appear on NSO and we'll all move on with our lives.

I find it more likely that something's been cookin in the 2D Zelda world for this Direct.

I think people are far too confident that Gamecube NSO is even remotely close to being a thing.

@GrailUK
I prefer the Nintendo IP from GameCube get remastered on Switch or next Switch.
Maybe it can start from Pokemon games on Gamecube since the games are really over inflated on EBay.

@GrailUK GameCube NSO is probably still years away, but I think it’ll happen at some point. Nintendo is bringing back so many GameCube games recently, that it’s probably not happening anytime soon.

@GrailUK Agreed, April's N64 batch (Iggy's Reckin' Balls, Extreme-G) showcases that the current lineup of NSO consoles can be extended for a lot longer without adding new ones. Lean heavily into the nostalgia of renting games from Blockbuster.

Honestly? My one expectation for this direct is something along the lines of “hey don’t forget Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is releasing this month!” Everything else is basically a wild card for me.

Not that I care, I’m still adequately distracted with TTYD and the 5 Mega Man games that just hit NSO

PikminMarioKirby

@NinChocolate Possibly, however I think some people are leaning more on next week because we haven’t heard from Pyoro yet

MarioKirbyPikmin?

Keman

"Pyro" will as usually "leaking" just 1-2 days before the direct while others "leaks" waaaay before, yet "Pyro" gets all credits.

"Pyro" alredys has proven being a complete fraud. He/she got wrong about everything at lately about "Switch 2" being fully revealed in march, and then in april etc... Yet many still has +100% faith in that person because they uses the "Switch 2 got delayed in the last minute" defense. But the problem is that "Switch 2" has never been been fully revealed pr been delayed by Nintendo yet...

Just don't blindly trust everything on internet. It's their job. Some "leakers" got right for some times, and then gets wrong for every times before falling into the oblivion, we has seen this so many times during the latest 10 years now.

@Keman Once again, Pyoro NEVER said anything regarding Switch 2. His leaks are strictly about Directs and impending social media announcements, which is why he's reliable.

@Keman I don’t know if we’re talking about the same leaker. Pyoro has accurately leaked the past several Directs that no one else leaked.

maybe you’re thinking of someone else? Pyoro hasn’t really leaked anything Switch Successor related, so you’re possibly thinking of someone else.

I believe Pyoro was the first to accurately leak:

  • Mario Vs Donkey Kong 2024
  • Super Mario Bros. Wonder
  • Pikmin 1+2
  • Endless Ocean Luminous
  • Monkey Ball 2024
  • Another Code Recollection
  • NES World Championships
  • Detective Pikachu Returns
  • A bunch of other things I don’t feel like listing

The misinformation in this post is real...I have no doubt you're talking about a no-name "leaker" with a similar username to Pyoro...

@WiiWareWave Keman has misspelled Pyoro multiple different ways in this thread in the past so I don't think it is referring to a different leaker.

But as to the main point, we don't really know when things get to Pyoro's 'desk'. And Pyoro doesn't know about indie showcases, so not everything goes to them.

The last couple leaks have been on Fridays so it seems unlikely we will get a direct next week but with Pyoro it is more leak= accurate and no leak = not necessarily any information.

It’s years away, but it’s happening. The alternative is… ?? NSO just calls it a day at the N64 for the rest of its existence? They’re gonna run into some interesting problems in moving past the GBA on the handheld side but the home console possibilities stretch out pretty dang far.

To me, it seems like Nintendo finally got the curated garden it wanted with NSO, so I see them slowly enriching and expanding it for as far as anyone can know at the moment. If access to it just naturally exists on the next console with no need for a system transfer or booting into a “Switch 1” menu, that would be the first time they’ve done such a thing, right?

"This is far from everything we have to show you – all this week, the Official Xbox Podcast will air podcasts from Monday, June 10th, featuring discussions with developers and even deeper looks at some of the exciting games from the show. It all starts tomorrow with an extended gameplay look at Avowed, on Xbox’s YouTube channel and podcast services, followed by Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater on Tuesday. If reading’s more your speed, every episode will be detailed in an Xbox Wire post breaking down what was revealed."

Seems pretty much guaranteed that the Direct is not the week starting June 10th.

@rallydefault You're dreaming when you think that the Gamecube NSO is going to be a thing lol. It isn't happening. Nintendo isn't going to introduce another paid tier that has Gamecube, DS, and Wii games. Especially given that again- they stand to make more by remaking those titles than giving them away under the costs of an Online sub. Especially for a tier that people are most likely not going to buy anyways.

I doubt they'll make an "Expansion pass 2," and I can't see the normal expansion pass having more than N64 and Gameboy titles.

This. If they're sticking with NSO for another 7 years on the Switch 2, then what are they going to do to sustain it? They've exhausted most of the big games for those systems, so they're going to have to add new ones or else subscribers will get bored and leave. DS? Depending on how the Switch 2 works (and the rumors seem to be indicating it's mainly just a power bump so it probably isn't going to be any better at this than the OG Switch), the system might not be able to run those well since they're designed to work with 2 screens. Third party retro systems? They're not going to be as profitable, since their games aren't as popular as first party Nintendo games and the owners of those systems are going to demand a licensing fee. So GC is by far the best way to retain interest in NSO in the long term.
