On a side note, them pushing this out the door pretty much confirms that the Switch is winding down, or at least in my mind.
This too. If they were planning on continuing the Switch for another 2+ years it'd be downright unacceptable to not have a big June Direct that confirms multiple major titles for the holiday season. But if they're content to shadow drop a game now instead of have a June Direct, they're probably content to coast on little more than what we know already and for them to do that this late in the Switch's lifespan implies that they've probably shifted towards developing next gen games right now and there's little else left for the Switch.
I am going to repeat again:
Super Mario Odyssey 2.
Yes, patterns are bad to go by.
But that's all my lizard brain sees
That ship has likely sailed. If Odyssey 2 was a thing, it would've happened or at least been announced sooner. But to be sitting here a FULL 6 YEARS after Odyssey 1 and to still not have an Odyssey 2 implies that they've probably moved on to a completely new 3D Mario game for next gen. They seem to like having 3D Mario early in the console's lifespan (literally every console since Mario went 3D has had one either Year 1 or Year 2), so if they've decided to move on to next gen in the next few years (and it does look like they're gearing up for next year), they've probably prioritized next gen Mario over Odyssey 2.
At this point I don't even think Odyssey 2 would be a great game. Since we've had to wait so long for the next Mario, I sort of hope it isn't just a sequel to Odyssey, and it's something brand new.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
Woohoo..!
Wholesome Direct 2023 due to 10 June 2023 at 11 pm at my place.
There will be a lot of cute indie games that I might like almost all of them. 😄
Nintendo Direct can stay away for a while, Wholesome Direct 2023 is on my way.
@Owl1
Actually, there was one game from Wholesome Games (the name of user on Youtube) Thcia that I immediately banned after I saw blood and gore from the beginning of recent trailer of Tchia and I was really shocked and upset because how could a game that already looked beautiful in environment with Mario Oddysey capture gameplay suddenly have dirty stuffs that I immediately hated the game so sudden.
And further investigation from ESRB website, it said there was a scene about headless animal and blood spurt out from its head and I really pissed off to read that descriptor from ESRB.
That was one game from Wholesome Games that I banned for having rated M stuffs.
Tchia itself was rated Teen by ESRB but it has blood and gore, and I have ZERO tolerance with those stuffs.
That announcement of Everybody 1-2-Switch may actually increase the chance of a Direct. They announced the game but absolutely nothing about it (not even screenshots) which is very unlike Nintendo. It gives the impression the announcement timing was only because of physical copies (there is a physical version).
Remember how Metroid Prime Remastered physical version wasn't a shadow drop, instead it launched 2 weeks later for US (the handling of physical was a disaster) and a month later for Europe (unlike the US it was handled well in Europe).
@Professor_Plumber
Last Nintendo Direct, when the last minute shown about upcoming zelda game, I immediately stopped watching the Direct and turned off my Switch since I watched the Direct from my Switch with YouTube as I didn't even need to know that game.
I don't care with blah blah blah AAA games, that zelda games, that xenoblade games.
Last Nintendo Direct was terrible for me because I was looking for the underrated kids games, not the over popular gargatuan AAA games. It was Blah for me.
I don't think I will get more excited from upcoming Nintendo Direct on this month (if that really happens) since I care more the underrated games.
@skywake Yeah, it feels abit like when Game Builder Garage (or was it Labo?) that was announced around the time of a Direct just to get it out of the way possibly so real gamers wouldn't complain "junk" games are taking up time.
I think I'm currently with people that think this deconfirms a direct. I don't quite think it fits into the labo or game builder's garage box, because that felt like a new product of sorts. Plus they've also announced new colour joycon that could easily be slipped into a direct. That combined with the tweet about wave 5 of the booster pack makes me think our next direct is gonna be September
@BranJ0 Definitely think that’s the case. Can definitely see Nintendo doing more shadow drops of smaller games like Everybody 1-2 Switch until September. If it’s true Nintendo shelved that game a couple of years back because they didn’t like the quality, then I can totally see them just chucking it out there like this as a gap filler and to keep a flow of game’s coming to the system.

What Nintendo is doing right now - with the announcements of the Booster Pack Wave 5 "coming soon" and of Everybody 1-2-Switch without a trailer - sounds to me more like they want to create some hype for an upcoming Direct. Otherwise both would not make sense to me.
