I haven't played this game in more than 2 months did they add an option for 3 lap races yet? I found intermission rather boring. I've been playing some Sonic Racing Crossworlds and that game to me personally is so much better, though admittedly item spam even in that game can get annoying at times.

They increased the chance you’ll get to play one very slightly and that’s about it.

Pfftt typical. I don't understand why they can't just listen to Feedback. If they added the option it would bring Players like myself back to the game immediately. Regardless thanks for letting me know.

This has probably been asked and answered several times so I apologize for potentially being repetitive but uh...

...How the heck are you supposed to unlock the NPC racers in this game? The Kamek Orb literally never spawns for me and when it does, I always get a dupe. Is there a way to farm this? I'm really tired of being screwed by awful RNG.

@LightSpirit If you want to play 3 lap tracks only, you should consider joining the Mario Kart World Discord and playing in lobbies. You can even chat with other players and stuff while you play, it's a blast

@TerribleTerabytes Yeah unlocking characters is pretty dumb in this game. They did introduce a new option recently I believe where you can unlock characters by controlling the UFO in free roam and picking them up, but other than that the only option I think is still getting lucky with Kamek orbs.

They increased it to about a 2/3 chance.

@TerribleTerabytes
Yea, pretty much the Kamek orb. It's pretty dumb. I had most of the characters after maybe 20ish hours of just racing offline and online pretty naturally, then was missing only a couple after 50ish hours. I had to do the two-controller method to get Swoop and Fish Bones.

I wish it was that much. Every time I played since the newest update I barely reached 50 percent. If it was 2/3 that would be the sweet spot for me.

I was watching YouTube videos of people playing the game online with the update.earlier on and every single time they got an intermission race. It literally blew my mind. Thank goodness Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still a thing.

I'm not calling you liars, but... liars! lol j/k

I don't know what to tell you guys. Some of the biggest MK people (shortcat being the one I primarily watch) who play for hundreds of hours have done the stats after every update, and right now it's about a 60% chance for a 3-lap course to appear as an option on the select screen along with 2 highways.

If you're saying you barely reached 50 or didn't see any... I don't see how that can be correct. Did you only play like 2 races?

@rallydefault There's a key distinction to be made between a 3 lap track being an option to pick and a 3 lap track being selected as the track you play on. While 60% sounds about right for the former, I'd definitely say it's closer to 40% for the latter and I'm fine with that because I prefer intermissions in World (if I wanted to mostly play 3 lap tracks I'd play a different game like MK8 Deluxe or Sonic Racing CrossWorlds).

I haven't played in over 2 months so I haven't played any since the update, I was just watching other people on Youtube play and complain about how the update didn't really do anything so Idk. I'm just going by what they said.

Yeah, to clarify, when I say 50%, I mean you get to play the three-lap track around 50% of the time because two or three jokers will pick the intermission track when a three-lap course shows up and we’ll end up playing it anyway. You might get slightly more or less depending on your luck, but it’s still around half intermission and half not, which is far too low.

Next time I hop on I’ll probably join the Discord, but between Sonic and Kirby I’ll probably just play a game that lets me actually race on the racing tracks for the foreseeable future.

Yea, it’s borderline 2/3 to appear, but then you gotta hope people vote for it.

I don’t mind the highways too much. If I hop on for like 10 races, for instance, like 5 or 6 highways doesn’t kill my enjoyment.

@Grumblevolcano this is totally unrelated, but who is that in your PFP? I've been meaning to ask for ages lol!

My siblings and I played some MKWii the other day (the collective favorite title in my family) and it was funny how bad we were. It used to be that the CPUs were just background noise, practically; now, after getting used to the controls of World, they were beating us - badly! Wii is still our number one, but there is definitely nostalgia bias - World is a close second nonetheless! (For those wondering, the rest of the list, in order (only including the titles we have actually played a good bit) is 8DX (solely due to the soundtrack lol), 7, and SNES)

@CaleBoi25 Lana from the original Hyrule Warriors, I was really hyped for the Wii U version of Hyrule Warriors back in 2014 and the official Wii U site had a bunch of downloadable stuff like profile pics and wallpapers so I used that one for my profile pic.

1.4.0 update is now live. Patch notes aren't live yet but I've noticed a few things:

  • Settings now have an option to increase music to "loud"
  • Vs. Race now has custom items as an option
  • In free roam, when paused you can see the current song's name and the game it's from in the top right corner

I wouldn’t have minded if the music track name was very briefly displayed on a corner of the screen when it first plays, unless it might be too distracting for some people. Actually, I’m so familiar with this game’s outstanding soundtrack that I can already recognize what’s playing except for the staff credits themes for past Mario Karts. Hopefully “Music Volume” will address the complaint about the music being too drowned out by noises.

Wonder when we'll get DLC with a 200cc mode and more tracks to choose from that arent visually downgraded like the dlc tracks found in MK8 Deluxe. I hated MK8D btw. Lol F-Zero 99 is more my cup of tea. Haven't tried MKW just yet but i do wanna give it a chance. The last time i remember liking a MK sequel was with MK DS.
