Topic: Launch games: What do you want?

If there is a Donkey Kong Country 3D platformer in the likes of Super Mario Odyssey. I'm all in

Next 3D Super Mario game
Next main Mario Kart game
Next main Mega Man game (unlikely 😔)
Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth ports
Maybe a new Animal Crossing within a year after launch
Same with the next Super Smash Bros., though I have no idea how they’ll top Ultimate. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 2?

I was thinking a Splatoon spinoff game.

I'd like Persona 3 Reload, Metaphor and Yakuza 7/8. Love to play my JRPGs portably and having an optimised version on Switch 2 (with a physical release) would be ideal for me personally!

In terms of 1st party I'd be happy with this new Mario Kart and new 3D Mario, but some cool new things would be appreciated too - New IP, unexpected sequel to Kid Icarus Uprising, 3D DK platformer, reboot of a dormant franchise, etc

@MrCarlos46 What kind of spinoff? I could kinda see table turf as a mobile app but I don’t know what content they could put into a whole spinoff game.

@MrCarlos46 i think since Past won the Final Splatfest, a story mode oriented (which this might be me wishing) game could be possible, and would be rly cool. like something maybe with the Great Turf War or even human extinction. but im honestly kind of doubting a new splatoon soon, i think they might be focusing on a new animal crossing for 2026 haha, since New Horizons sales are crazy high.

• 3d mario (…i still need to play odyssey)
  Metroid Prime 4 will be crossgen
  some old revived ip, such as kid icarus
  new fire emblem (been rumored for a while)
  new donkey kong (oddly promoted a lot in recent years)
  i think later in 2025 we will get some eevee spinoff, a sports game, and something else mario, maybe mario maker?
  i used to think a new ip was gonna be introduced, but i kinda think nintendos gonna play it safe this year, based on what we have seen so far.

@OctolingKing13 I think we’re going to get some Splatoon content in 2026 (third kits pls) which may be locked to switch 2. But the devs are definitely working on animal crossing now. Personally I think these two ips are large enough to constitute separate dev teams. I want S4 to be baked when it comes out, it has to feel fresh.

A killer new Starfox title please.... something akin to the Ubisoft-adjacent 'Starlink: Battle for Atlus', with a sprinkle of Starfield for good measure.

I'd love to see Nintendo really work on upgrading this new entry, similar to how BOTW completely flipped Zelda into a new era

@MrCarlos46 I do think the mainline Splatoon games need a bit of a break, getting 3 in 7 years is a bit much by modern game standards and it's worse when they've all felt fairly similar to each other (especially 2 and 3, with 3 having basically no new gameplay modes to make it actually feel fresh and interesting). I'd be in favor of a spinoff trying something different with Splatoon.

I'd very much like to see something more open world platforming oriented from Splatoon. Like an expansion of the single player into a full game. That would be really fun, Splatoon's ink swimming mechanics could lend itself well to a more Odyssey/Bowser's Fury style game.

@MrCarlos46 I think you mentioned this before. I could potentially see a music themed spinoff around them, but it's not something I'm personally interested in. I'm really not sure what direction they'd want to go for a spinoff TBH, but I can definitely see one happening soon. It's a very flexible IP that could work with a lot of different genres, and it just keeps getting more and more popular.

I would love any variation of platformer, adventure, or RPG with Splatoon. It could even do something super creative with monster encounters and combat zones. I'm hoping the recent DLC was basically an experiment with Splatoon in a different genre and that they are planning some type of full game.

And with the fact Deep Cut isn’t as popular as the other two groups, got shafted in their own game, from bringing back both Inkopolis hubs with the DLC to adding the skip news feature to even making them the bosses of the story mode and only having them help in the end which left them with a bad reputation and also losing Grand Festival with 0 points, we might not even see Deep Cut again after Splatoon 3.

If that’s where it ends up going, anything with the idols will only go for Squid Sisters and Off the Hook.

I’d love something similar to Armored Core 6, in terms of fast paced dog fights…. And mission based gameplay. Maybe some base building and ship customisation as well, NMS-style

A Pokémon spin off remake like Mystery Dungeon Explorers of the Sky or Conquest

Trails in the Sky, a Zelda game NON BoTW/TotK ish, a good Open World Mario game, Mario Kart, and if nothing else make sure the older games are running boosted fps

I would definitely want a new 3D adventure with Donkey Kong.
Other than that, I would like from Nintendo to focus on new modern ip's also.
Nintendo need to refresh their "weapons".
