@Eel
Was the game still 30 fps even on Switch 2?

I only play kids games with a few rated Teen games that suitable for me.

Eel

@Anti-Matter I’m not sure what’s their fps cap. But on switch the let’s go games would frequently lose frames, on switch 2 they have a stable frame rate.

@Eel
Well, my eyes can tell the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps.
Does the animation look very smooth or faster on Switch 2?
Because if the animation movement looked faster and smoother, that's 60 fps.

@kerr9000 Thanks for the update!
One minor correction: Klonoa (which you have listed) runs better if you have the physical version but currently won't even open if you have the digital version. I've mentioned this to support but no fix yet.

Thank you very much for this input FishyS I will try to add it to the list next time I open it.... I got Chronicles of the Wolf yesterday for Switch and that's considered not working with even the developer saying they never got a Switch 2 developers kit so couldn't test it till the machine launched and that it plays with extreme bugs and graphical issues. You cant buy it on the Eshop on Switch 2, but I have put my own physical cart in and played an hour and it worked fine. I know Mortal Kombat 1 was originally like this as well before some updating.

@kerr9000 Yeah, it's weird that some games work for some people but others

Hear ninokuni 2 is a MUCH more consistant 60fps now but am curious about the original game, i remember hearing that ninokuni 1 had a crashing issue on the original switch and curious if this is still the case here or if it was fixed (if it was memory related or something)

These are the Switch games I’ve tested on Switch 2

Risk of Rain 2
Bayonetta 3
Doom Eternal
Crysis
Pikmin 4
Vampire Survivors

And a few others.

All run so so much better, it’s a huge noticeable difference. Mostly excited about ROR2 finally being playable.

I played some Alan Wake the other day.

Still looks like I applied ointment directly on my eyes. But I think it at least runs better?

There's lots of YT videos testing 25 games in one video plus Ive tried quite a few.

  • The new GameCube controller's analog triggers work for Trials Rising so you can play on the TV without using the right analog stick as a replacement for analog triggers (which still works well mind you- I unlocked Ninja tracks on a Switch Lite using the right analog stick). As for the game- it runs like a dream without a single dropped frame, and resolution is no longer "dynamic" as it stays maxed out. Some reported "hanging" at times but thats Ubisoft servers- that happens on NSW1 also. But the loading is so much faster on NSW2 it really helps make that issue negligible (which it already was kinda negligible- it doesn't happen all the time and when it does its like an extra 15 seconds loading a track).

Oh BTW, since "SELECT" restarts the track from 00:00 and GC controller doesn't have SELECT, I learned ZL+ZR acts like SELECT for the new GameCube controller. Idk if it's just Trials or all games but, reporting my findings.

  • Resident Evil 5 runs beautifully at 60 fps and terrific gyro aiming. Map GL to Y for Reload and GR to B for "Analog Down + B )" 180 turnaround without removing right thumb from analog. Same mappings should be used in RE Revelations 1 and 2.
  • Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle is now 60fps despite having a 30fps locked, presumably due to a double buffer V-sync like Link's Awakening had, its just that before it never hit it and now it always hits it.
  • Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope is a locked 30fps now.
  • SMTV Vengeance is a locked 30fps and no more dynamic resolution dips.
  • Xenoblade Chronicles X is a locked 30fps with no dynamic resolution dips.
  • Ni No Kuni 2 hits a locked 60fps now.
  • Monster Hunter Stories 2 is a locked 60fps now with 1080p docked, 720p handheld.
  • Neo TWEWY is a locked 60fps now.
  • Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is a locked 60fps now.
  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a locked 30fps now.
  • Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City are a locked 30fps now. Even Arkham Knight is a locked 30fps but the visual downgrades make that one not worth it, even if it is now playable imo.
  • Bayonetta 3 is a locked 60fps without dynamic resolution dips.
  • All the Trails games and Tokyo Xanadu are a locked 30fps now. I also tried Y's IX: Monstrum Nox which is a locked 30fps. I presume the other Ys games are also now locked.
  • Monster Hunter Rise is a locked 30fps without any dynamic resolution dips.
  • Pikmin 4 is now locked- cant remember if it's 30fps or 60fps but whichever it is- it's now locked.

I don't know if it's been mentioned but I've just tried a few games that ran and looked VERY underwhelming and it feels almost like they got an update alongside it.
My Hero One's Justice and Fairy Tail for one look and play like completely different games it's honestly amazing.
Also it feels like Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition is at 60fps now or is it just me?
@JaxonH Did you try Tokyo Xanadu or did you see/read it somewhere? For me it still says on the eShop that it's not compatible.
If it works I might get it via the eshop website.

@JaxonH I'd be interested to learn if racing games like Grid support the analog triggers? That alone would tempt me to pick up the controller (already bought the new Pro controller - have spent too much money since launch)

While i haven't tried it yet i do hear that Fantasian:Neo dimension has improved load times on switch 2 and more stable performance (the original load times were often just long and frequent enough to be a bother) if anyone here has the game may be worth a check.

Saw a video that showed The Plucky Squire not running at a locked 60fps up from around 20-30fps with significantly improved resolution because it did use dynamic resolution scaling. I did skip that one because I heard the performance was pretty average. Then I heard it was also not quite as good as people were expecting. But maybe I give it another shot now

We love katamari reroll + royal rev is actually fun to play now and runs buttery smooth.
Loading times are massively improved.

On Switch 1 it has serious frame rate issues and loading times are horrid.
