@Polvasti Yes both XC1 and XC2 look reasonably sharp on the Switch 2, while XC3 looks the worst.

Okay, that's interesting, I didn't expect XC1 to be improved at all since (AFAIK) it has fixed resolution. I guess I'll have to try it out myself now.

@Polvasti I think XC3 most likely runs at slighly lower resolution due to much more busy environments.

It has that same blurry haze effect that Zelda:BOTW had on Switch 1.

It's the character themselves that look like lower resolution giving them a jagged look, while in XC1 and XC2 the characters look more clear and sharp ( like difference between anti-aliasing and not ).

@kerr9000 You shouldn’t feel the need to update that list unless both (a) you want to and (b) you have the time to! You don’t need me to tell you this, but you don’t owe us anything. Thanks for taking the time to “port” and compile that list in the first place, even if you never update it again! Cheers.

Hobbies include eating, sleeping, playing video games, petting cats, and…actually that’s about it. :/

Thank you very much. I was supposed to be on a podcast today but it got cancelled so I have put a little bit of time into updating the list on both sites adding some stuff to it.... I enjoy doing stuff like this and love being a part of active forums.... I just didn't want anyone to think hey he is ignoring this he hasn't done it for a week if I get busy

Im relatively new here so just wanted to make sure im not stepping on any toes posting all of this etc, so its great to get feedback that people appreciate this list.

Dead Cells - 30 FPS cap, poor texture quality
No Man’s Sky - 40 FPS in handheld according to some sources with some saying it has noticeable visual uprades but our very oen Captain Red Dog currently says it runs more like 25 FPS and is janky, Hello Games are big into fixes and updates so watch this space.

This is incorrect information. Dead Cells on Switch 1 targets 60 FPS, though it sometimes drops frames, and it includes an optional locked 30 FPS mode which you can turn on for better performance. I tested the game yesterday on the Switch 2, and it seems to reach the 60 FPS target consistently now. I didn't notice any poor texture quality either, at least not in handheld mode.

As for No Man's Sky, it did indeed get a free Switch 2 upgrade with dramatic improvements in resolution, texture quality, FPS, etc. It now has two FPS modes, one that's capped at 30 FPS and one that's uncapped. I checked some Youtube videos where people test these modes, and the capped mode seems to run consistently at 30 FPS, whereas the uncapped mode seems to fluctuate roughly between 40 FPS and 60 FPS depending on which environment of the game you're in.

Thanks for the info chap... The info on Dead cells comes from an unknown source so next time I edit the post I'll change it for your feedback.

As for No Mans Sky, I'll look at that a bit and either merge the feedback or as I purchased it try it myself.

This is very helpful, thank you

@kerr9000 No prob, and thanks to you for compiling and updating that list, it's genuinely quite useful.

You are more than welcome

I just updated the post to add a bunch to it.

Seems like some games can run but you don't get the Switch 2 games but Switch 2 game cart will not work Switch 1 gen consoles. So it's going to be based on the Publishers of the game if they work or not. But definitely Switch 2 carts will not work on Switch 1.

Lego Jurassic World feels like it’s loading faster, but (and this is also true even when playing on S1) it looks very low resolution.

Hellblade looks and plays surprisingly well. It’s obvious it’s still a bit blurry due to the work they did to get it working on the switch, but it kind of works in its favor for this one. Looks like that realistic found footage blur.

The List on the third page has now been once again updated, if anyone else would like to add to it then let me know ,I still have things I have not added but wanted to add a bit and let you all know I haven't forgotten this.

I am personally very interested in if anyone has tried Disagia 6 as that game could do with a bit of a performance lift, its the only game in the franchise I never finished.

Anti-Matter

I want to ask.
Are Switch 1 games with capped 30 fps will never get fps boost but the games with unstable fps will get 60 fps boost since there was no fps cap?

I only play kids games with a few rated Teen games that suitable for me.

FishyS

@Anti-Matter depends on the game. But sometimes.

Just tried Links awakening and Echoes of wisdom. They're supposed to have free switch 2 upgrades but i swear i see no difference. Unless they didn't actually get upgrades but rather just the standard software updates. I checked the eshop and it didn't say anything about free upgrades were available so I'm confused.

How do you tell if they're upgraded or not? I don't see switch 2 edition under the title like with BOTW and TOTK.

@FishyS
Oh i see thanks! Not a full on upgrade. I get it now. Yeah my TV does have HDR but not the HGIG capability. which games actually did get full switch 2 versions? I only know of BOTW, TOTK and Kibry and the forgotten land.

@Truegamer79 Only 2 for Nintendo so far - TotK and BotW. Kirby and Jamboree Switch 2 editions are coming soon and Pokemon Z-A and Prime 4 later. And a few third party games have Switch 2 editions/ upgrades ( No Man's Sky, Fantasy Life i, Hogwarts Legacy, etc)

To me the difference is very noticeable especially in handheld mode, everything looks crisper and smoother, since the resolution is now higher. Also the sort of janky camera movements you sometimes got when moving around in the overworld are now gone, since the framerate is completely steady. Though TBH those occasional framerate drops never really bothered me while playing these games on the Switch 1, but they were pretty noticeable especially in Echoes of Wisdom.

I have just done another very big update on the list on page 3... Some games that didnt even work before now work well.. I am also going to start doing short videos on my YouTube and TikTok talking about games I have actually tried.

Overall though I am very happy with how quickly things seem to be getting fixed and updated.

@kerr9000 Thanks for the update!

One minor correction: Klonoa (which you have listed) runs better if you have the physical version but currently won't even open if you have the digital version. I've mentioned this to support but no fix yet.
